Surla Racing

Surla Racing Husband and Wife desert race team. We are a husband and wife amateur UTV desert race team. My name is Todd and Ashley is my wife.

We first started racing in 2021 when my wife watched her first desert race locally. She was hooked and immediately asked how we could get into it. One year later we have some sponsors, a great group of friends that help us out and are looking at finishing in the top three for our first full year of racing! Although I want her to start driving, Ashley chooses to navigate for us. One day we'll have

her in the drivers seat I'm sure. I've been driving for our team since 2021. Together, we make sure to get practice in a couple times a month as we do feel this is a perishable skill. Practicing high speed driving, reaction, navigation and communication is key to making sure we are safe, and effective when on the course. We currently drive a 2021 Honda Talon 1000X-4 Live Valve version. When we first purchased this we didn't intend to race it. It was strictly for fun and family use. However that has changed drastically. We still use this Talon for family use but it has certainly proven capable in a race setting as well.

We unfortunately will not be participating in the Cinco De Baja with Southwest Texas Off Road Racing - STORR due to a schedule conflict. Our kids have gotten involved in various activities and this weekend happen to be important for our son. Instead we will be looking forward to September to pick up with STORR, and maybe find a race with another series in June or July.
