We've landed at our June/July spot. Lots of adventures on the way!
Yesterday, my daughter planted my container garden for me. She has skills that didn't come from me. People pay her to do this. Lucky me.

We made it back to Chicagoland after an amazing winter, in Key Largo. It was a looooong one this year. We parked it on the 27th of October, and stayed until April 24th. We would love to say that we avoided the cold this way, but that would be a blatant lie! (We saw snow on Friday.)
Anyhoooo... I'm going to drop a whole bunch of pictures from the winter, early spring and late fall too. I imagine if I posted the same sunsets every night, it might get tedious. So here they are, sprinkled throughout. We watched the sunset over the Everglades, almost every evening for almost six months. We hung out on the dock, and at our little beach a lot. We spent days in the sun, out on the water with our friends. We literally put roots down. (See Fred's lawn!!!)
The people from this small town are as infectious as this paradise itself. We embraced them just as hard as they embraced us back. It is our chosen home now. We're dug in. We're convinced that there's no better place to watch the weather play it's evil winter games. We learned, years ago that the sea fixes everything. This winter threw us some terrible curve balls. I took it all to the end of the dock, and shouted at God until I lost my voice and then, I listened. ❤️ There is nothing better, for my soul. It's our favorite place, for these reasons, and for so much more.
KL, we miss you already.

We are so grateful for a year filled with good health and safe, amazing travels. The roads led us to so many places that inspired us with their beauty. We made new friends, talked to LOTS of strangers and found some of our favorite old familiar faces along the way. There was precious time with family, lots of laughter and so many memories.
And there was sweet, quiet, solitude in beautiful cathedrals of trees and deserts and sea and stars.
There has also been sadness, loss, worry, frustration and more helplessness than I ever thought I'd feel.
I suppose this year has taught us once again that life can be beautiful and broken in the same breath. The important thing is to always keep breathing because it can all change in an instant, and you don't want to miss one second of it.

May we all find peace in this new year.

Today we're celebrating 18 years of marriage, built on a 30 year foundation of friendship.
Here we are with our favorite people. 🥰 Our grandkids.

When I was much younger I had a father-in-law who chose to live out his days in Florida. He called us (My X and me) every, single, Saturday morning, all winter and precarious Midwest Spring, to tell us the temperature in Florida. It was so much fun! I can't tell you how much we looked forward to that call!!! Woohooo!!! 🥳😆
So...I try really hard not to be THAT as***le, and sometimes I find that I don't post a whole lot while we sit still here.
However, this was our evening. And that's kind of a dumb reason to dip out all winter. Our Christmas stuff is done and today was a day, trying to get there.
Merry Christmas to all. 🥂

Back to sunsets on the dock. And Gus sneaking in for a swim while we're not watching. It never gets old.
