Most people know this movement as a muscle-up.

At MovNat, we call it a Power Up. But regardless of the name, the value of the movement lies in what it allows you to do.

The goal is not to perform a gym trick or chase another rep. The goal is to get on top of something. A wall. A branch. A ledge. An obstacle between you and where you need to be.

That is what makes this video so impressive.

Kumi is only six years old, yet she moves from a dead hang to the top of the bar with full range of motion. No kipping. No swinging. No compensations. Just clean, natural movement.

Children do not see hanging and climbing as exercises. They simply see them as normal ways to move through the world.

Maybe that is the real lesson here.

These are not skills we need to invent. They are abilities we were meant to have all along.

Why does natural movement seem so strange to so many people?

Perhaps because we've become disconnected from its original purpose.

Crawling, balancing, carrying, climbing, jumping, and lifting weren't created as exercises. They were practical skills that helped humans navigate the world around them.

Today, movement is often reduced to sets, reps, and calories burned. But what if movement was about capability instead?

What if strength wasn't just about lifting a barbell, but about being able to interact with your environment more effectively?

In this clip from our interview with MovNat Team Instructor Gaspard Nouaille, we discuss some of the cultural barriers that prevent people from embracing Natural Movement and why reconnecting with fundamental human movements matters more than ever.

Let's revisit one of our favorite articles: Barefoot Running: Lessons from Pain, Practice, and Performance, by Brian Betancourt and Dr. Diana Solares.

What happens when you stop looking for the perfect shoe and start rebuilding the foundation beneath you?

Drawing from personal experience, coaching, and physical therapy, Brian and Diana explore how stronger feet, better movement mechanics, and a gradual approach to barefoot training can help improve the way you move, run, and perform.

If you've ever been curious about barefoot running, or wondered why your feet matter more than you think, this one's worth a read.

🧭 Team Instructor Spotlight: Munawar Karim

Some people arrive at movement through sport. Others through fitness.

Munawar Karim arrived through a much wider path.

Law, Japanese culture, martial arts, education, writing, and years of deep personal practice all shaped the coach he is today. Before leading MovNat UK, he had already stepped away from corporate law, lived and trained in Japan, founded a Montessori school, and built a life around teaching people how to grow.

That is what makes his coaching different.

For Munawar, movement is not just something to train. It is a way to build awareness, discipline, confidence, and a stronger relationship with yourself.

We’re proud to spotlight Munawar Karim, MovNat® Team Instructor and owner of MovNat UK.

A study followed 111,000 people for 30 years.

The ones with the widest variety of movement had a 19% lower risk of death from any cause.

Most people will read that and think: I need to add more activities.
That's the wrong conclusion.

Swipe for Erwan's full breakdown. What the study actually found, what the body was built for, and why the environment you train in matters as much as the movements you do.

🤔 We ran MovNat® classes inside a CrossFit gym. The uptake was lower than expected.

Not because the training wasn’t good, but because the mindset was different. CrossFitters are wired to push hard and feel it. MovNat® asked them to slow down and feel something else entirely.

Dr. Elaine Hong and Brian Betancourt break down why MovNat® isn’t competing with CrossFit. It fills the gap.
