🎳 Nationals Individual Competition Recap 🎳

The lanes oiled, 1,200+ balls ready, and the anthem sung. The stage was set, energy electric!

294 female athletes from across the nation ready to compete. This was truly the best of the best, and the level of competition was fierce.

Match 1:
Noelle with a 185
Amelia a 187

Match 2: we got to celebrate a huge milestone as Melanie bowled her first-ever 200+ game in competition with a 201! 🎉

Melanie 182
Chelsea 187
Amelia 172

Alliana stayed consistent while continuing to be a positive, uplifting presence for her teammates.

Match 4 tested the girls, but they finished strong.

The field was narrowed from 294 athletes to 96. The cut required a 4-game total of 729 and our girls narrowly missed out.

3 of our athletes finished at or just outside the Top 200!

These athletes made program history this season, brought home a State Championship, and earned the opportunity to represent our school and community on the national stage. They competed with grit, class, resilience, and pride every step of the way.

Not every victory comes with a trophy.

Sometimes victory looks like showing up, competing fearlessly, lifting each other up, and proving you belong among the best.

These girls did exactly that and we are so proud. Thank you for representing WaHi, our community, and the Blue Devil family so well. 💙

Not the finish we hoped for—but plenty to be proud of.

Today’s team competition at Nationals challenged every squad in the building, and our Blue Devils were no exception.

Facing difficult lane conditions, the girls bowled 2 regular matches followed by 6 baker games, working hard to adjust and find the right lines. While the regular games were a grind, they stayed locked in, supported one another, and battled back in baker play—finishing strong with an impressive 177 game.

They came up just short of the first cut to the Top 20, but this team showed exactly what makes them special: resilience, positivity, and unwavering support for each other.

We couldn’t be more proud of the way they competed and represented WaHi, our community, and Blue Devil pride.

Tomorrow brings a new opportunity as individual competition begins at 7:00 PM ET. The girls are reset, refocused, and ready to compete.

🔥 IT’S GO TIME, BLUE DEVILS! 🔥

The time has officially come — the WaHi Girls Bowling Team is about to take on the 2026 U.S. High School Bowling National Championship Team Event here in Columbus, Ohio! 🏆🎳

Representing WaHi on the national stage today are:

💙 Melanie Mata-Cuellar

These athletes have worked tirelessly all season to earn this opportunity, and today they’ll compete against some of the best teams in the country. We’re incredibly proud to watch them represent Walla Walla, their school, and our entire community on this big stage.

📍 Columbus check-in complete! 💙🎳

The WaHi Blue Devils have officially made it to Columbus, Ohio and kicked things off with a solid practice session this afternoon! 💪

Along with getting some work in on the lanes, the girls enjoyed a little downtime with mini golf, plenty of laughs, and a hearty dinner to fuel up for what’s ahead. ⛳🍽️

Now it’s time to lock in.

Tomorrow, they take the lanes for Team Event competition at the US High School Bowling National Tournament.

These athletes have worked incredibly hard for this moment, and tomorrow they get the chance to represent Walla Walla, our community, and Blue Devil pride on the national stage.

What a legacy to leave behind. 💙🎳

The WaHi Girls Bowling program would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Junior Chelsea Faden for selecting our program as the beneficiary of her Eagle Scout Service Project!

Chelsea saw an opportunity to completely transform our team space and took on every part of the process herself — from identifying the need, designing and planning the project, fundraising for materials, coordinating construction, and helping bring the entire vision to life.

The end result is something truly special.❤️

What was once an unfinished and underutilized area has now been transformed into a polished, organized, and functional team room that future Blue Devils will benefit from for years to come.

Some of the incredible upgrades include:
🔹 Finished flooring and wall work
🔹 Fresh paint and complete room remodel
🔹 Custom-built cubbies for both 2-ball and 3-ball bowling bags
🔹 New cabinet and drawer storage space
🔹 Wall-mounted letter organizer system
🔹 Shoe organization area
🔹 TV with wall mount and Raspberry Pi display system for team announcements, photos, schedules, and updates
🔹 Improved organization and functionality throughout the entire space

This project took countless hours of planning, leadership, fundraising, construction, and hard work — and Chelsea handled it all with pride and dedication.

Chelsea, thank you for investing in this program and leaving behind something that will positively impact athletes for many years to come. Your WaHi Bowling family is incredibly proud of you and forever grateful for the work you put into creating such an amazing space.
