EXCITING NEWS!

Catholic education has been a fixture of both the Vincennes and Washington communities for nearly 175 years. Today, those educational traditions continue on with Vincennes Rivet and Washington Catholic High Schools.

Collaboration and competition between the two schools has been frequent throughout the years. To carry on this legacy and celebrate the athletic traditions, Rivet and Washington Catholic are proud to announce the creation of the travelling trophies for our annual girls’ and boys’ soccer games.

The winner of the annual boys’ match will receive the Old Cathedral Cup, and the winner of the annual girls’ match will receive Our Lady’s Trophy.

The two trophies are named for the two parishes to which our schools belong. The Old Cathedral is named in honor of Vincennes’ Basilica of St. Francis Xavier, known as the Old Cathedral. Our Lady’s Trophy is named in honor of Our Lady of Hope in Washington.

Both trophies are blue to represent the Diocese of Evansville. To represent the school colors, each winner will have bead, resembling a rosary bead, added to a chain on the trophy. Rivet will receive purple beads, and Washington Catholic will receive red beads.

The Old Cathedral Cup will be played Thursday, September 18th, 2026 at 5:30pm at Washington Catholic's Rees Field.

The Battle for Our Lady’s Trophy will be contested Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026 at 6:00pm at Washington Catholic's Rees Field.

We look forward to starting this new tradition between our two great Catholic institutions. Two Schools. Two Trophies. One Faith.
