Today vs Lake Forest, 8U managed to hit not one, but two home runs! We would like to give a shoutout to Daniel Thunga (left) and Ben Nierstheimer (right) for their amazing accomplishments on Father's Day! Way to go you guys!!!

Tough end to a great season for the Vernon Hills Rec AAA Diamondbacks. They suffered a heart breaking 3-2 loss in the bottom of the 8th inning to the Winthrop Harbor Hornets in the semi-finals of the CSYBA North Playoffs.

They fought hard and had several great plays in the field. All of their hard work and skill development was on full display all game.

Jake Hassenfelt and Tyson Guch turned a double play and the team had strong pitching performances from Luke Dorgan, Myles Merchant, Reyaan Makker, and Jake Hassenfelt. The four boys combined to only give up 3 runs during the extra inning affair. William Frazier and Myles Merchant contributed to the effort offensively with RBIs. Owen Loeb, Kristoffer Serna Carnazzola, and David Marinescu also contributed with great putouts and at-bats.

Proud of the boys for their resilience and fight throughout the season.

Our 13U Cougars took part in the Midwest Summer Classic in Sandusky, Ohio, finishing with a 1-4 record against some tough competition.

While the scoreboard didn’t always fall our way, this trip was about much more than wins and losses. The boys battled hard, competed until the final out, and represented VHCBS with pride throughout the weekend.

And let’s be honest… some of the biggest victories happened off the field! The team made unforgettable memories at Cedar Point, taking on roller coasters, water slides, sharing laughs, and strengthening the friendships that make baseball so special.

These experiences are what travel baseball is all about…competing, growing, and creating lifelong memories with teammates.

Keep working, keep learning, and keep having fun, Cougars!

Another win for 9U bringing them to 10-0 in league play!

Parker drove in four runs on two hits to lead 9U past the Gurnee Patriots 13-4 on Friday. Parker singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and tripled in the sixth inning, scoring two. The Cougars tallied 13 hits in the game. Dawson, John, Cameron, and Parker each collected two hits for the team (including a triple from Dawson) and Aiven, Blake, Josh, Ben and Calvin each had one.

Cameron started on the hill for 9U. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out nine and walking none. Blake tossed one and two-thirds innings of no-run ball for 9U in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out four and walking none.

11U Gray took their talents to Effingham last weekend for a little Banana Ball action!

There may have been dancing. There may have been singing. There may have been coaches gunning kids out at bases. There was definitely baseball… kind of. 😂

Our boys embraced the chaos, brought the energy, and created memories they’ll be talking about long after the tournament ended. From trick plays to nonstop laughs, Banana Ball proved once again that baseball is supposed to be FUN!

9U had a blast this weekend In Waukesha, WI, winning two games and falling to a tough team in the semi-final round of the Waukesha Firebirds Fireball Classic.

Highlights include a HR from Blake Pierce and a huge HR Derby Win from Dawson Eagle! Check out that bling!

10 Blue rolled into Lake Geneva with one goal and came home with 1st place.

The team truly gelled and played as a unit, especially on Championship Sunday.

Nicholas Heintz showed great leadership in the dugout and got his bat rolling early on Sunday. His 1st inning home run got the Cougars rolling.

Championship game was competitive but Gunner Linton set the tone for the Cougars with 4 strong innings pitched. Nicholas Heintz came in with 3 innings of strong relief to close the door.

2026 Summer Slam Champs!

The final standings may say 7th place, but the vibes say CHAMPIONS!

Our 10U Gray squad wrapped up their Wisconsin tournament weekend with a big consolation game win and brought home a 7th-place finish out of 8 teams. More importantly, they brought home plenty of laughs, memories, team bonding, and stories that will probably get exaggerated more with every retelling.

This group continues to play hard, support each other, and prove that baseball is about more than just the scoreboard. Proud of these boys for battling all weekend and finishing strong!
