I resigned from pushing myself to climb higher up the corporate ladder in exchange for the freedom to slow down and find purpose. As a mother of three strong and talented daughters, I wanted to be more present, spend more time with family and discover more about myself. I have always been a curious human and creativity ha

s always filled my soul. With the luxury of time and space to let my creative mind wander, I decided to explore writing. This journey started with the idea of creating a keepsake book for each of my children. Each story being unique to their personalities and real life experiences. So here I am, a self-taught writer who is inspired by motherhood. It is the beginning of my writing journey and I am looking forward to sharing my stories with others.

Spent the day at the Michigan State Fair spreading the joy of reading. Thank you for partnering with A Pop of Indie: Traveling Book Fair and supporting Michigan indie authors. It was so much fun sharing our stories with little readers. My favorite moment was when a little girl ran over to me to tell me she has my picture book, Finding Bunny, and it is her favorite book. She reads it every night and has memorized the words. 💜 It’s moments like this that make being an author worth it.

A Small Idea That Keeps Growing 💫

I wanted to create a space where young storytellers could dream up big ideas, create unforgettable characters, and discover the joy of writing their own picture books.

A year ago, this was just an idea. Now, that little idea has grown into multiple Picture Book Writing Camps, welcoming aspiring authors from 1st through 5th grade.

Watching these young writers find their voice has become one of my favorite parts of being an author.

Here’s to the next generation of storytellers. I can’t wait to see where their stories take them.

Day 2 of Pop of Indie’s Picture Book Creation camp is in the books (pun intended 😉)

Today was packed with bookish games, learning about the different types of illustrations in a picture book, adding details to our picture book drafts, meeting local Michigan authors, bookish crafts and lots of fun.

Day 1 at Pop of Indie’s Picture Book Creation Camp.

Not that we need another reason to fall in love with reading but just in case here is one more. I think it may the last form of entertainment that isn’t crammed full of ads trying to get you to buy stuff. So pick up a book and enjoy.
