Yesterday, our KOHR Valdosta 7U boys took the field against the Douglas Dragons 7U for a great day of baseball and, more importantly, another opportunity to learn and grow together.
Scrimmages like this are extremely valuable for a young team. The boys were able to experience real game situations, learn how to communicate with one another, understand where they need to be defensively, make decisions on the bases, and adjust at the plate. Every inning gave us something we can take back to practice and build on.
We saw some really good things, and we also identified areas where we need more work—and that's exactly what these scrimmages are for. At 7U, development is the priority. We want these boys learning the game, becoming more confident, competing hard, and understanding how to respond when things don't go their way.
What impressed us most was seeing the boys compete, encourage their teammates, listen to their coaches, and continue battling from start to finish. Every rep matters, every mistake can become a lesson, and every game is another step forward.
A big thank you to the Douglas Dragons 7U players, coaches, and families for coming together with us for a competitive and productive afternoon of baseball.
We are excited about this group and the progress they're making. There is plenty of work ahead, but that's part of the journey.
