“I know we feel like it's our fault that we have no motivation, or we just need to sit “a little bit longer" or if you are hyperthyroid, you can't sit still and are driving everyone else around you crazy because you go go go...

This is NOT YOUR FAULT

Your thyroid is running this race, and it's EXHAUSTING... so please don't explain yourself to anyone that does not understand. It's just not worth your precious energy ok?

But also make sure you are taking care of yourself and getting the help you need.

Once I decide to commit to something, I discipline myself to follow through no matter what. This mindest has helped me follow through with many challenges that helped me succeed at self growth. From going back to college in my 40’s and 50’s to get my Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees, to competing in my first NPC bikini competion in my 40’s as a mom of 4, while working full time and going back to college. Anything IS possible if you put your mind to it. 💪🏽🧠🫶🏽

Before you jump straight in to telling yourself how to be better this year…

Before you look in the mirror and tell yourself how to look better this year…

Before you write down all the things you plan to do better this year…

Maybe take a moment to sit with the person you are right now. The one who has gotten you this far.
The one who has helped you over however many hurdles and shared with you so many successes.

Maybe take a minute to recognise all of the ways you are already so much better than you realised.

Recognise your strength,
your courage,
your kindness,
your resolve.

And hold on to that.
Don’t discard the you that got you here.
Don’t shame her,
guilt her,
doubt her.

But love her instead.

And maybe you’ll realise
that - despite what you first thought -
there isn’t quite as much ‘bettering’ to be done
after all.

On the stroke of midnight tonight, you can resolve to be better, if you like…
to be fitter, to be healthier,
to work harder.

On the stroke of midnight tonight, you can resolve to become a whole new you,
if you so choose.

Or, you can take a moment to acknowledge what you already are.
All that you already are.
Because it’s a lot. You’re a lot.
And you deserve to be seen.

On the stroke of midnight tonight perhaps you could congratulate yourself, for coping.
For breaking, again,
and for rebuilding, again.
For catching the stones life has thrown at you,
and for using them to build your castle that little bit higher.

You have endured my friend.
And I don’t see the need to resolve to become a whole new you, when you are already so very much indeed.
