The past few weeks have been unlike anything we’ve experienced at Boundary Waters Outfitters.

The 2026 wildfires and the temporary closure of the Boundary Waters have had a significant impact on our small business, our staff, and the entire Ely community. While we can’t control the fires, we’re committed to being here for our customers and doing everything we can to keep moving forward.

Many of you have reached out asking how you can help. We truly can’t thank you enough.

To give people a way to support us, we’ve launched our Wildfire Relief Collection. It includes limited-edition stickers, patches, apparel, and more—with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Boundary Waters Outfitters to help us navigate this incredibly challenging season.

If you’d like to support us, visit the link in our bio or head to boundarywatersstore.com

If you’re unable to purchase anything, sharing this post means just as much.

Thank you for standing with our team and our business. We look forward to getting everyone back on the water as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Solo trips in the Boundary Waters come with their own unique challenges, but that’s part of what makes them so enjoyable.

You set the pace, choose when to travel, and decide how to spend each day. Whether it’s tackling a longer portage, finding the perfect campsite, or landing a fish with no one around to witness it, there’s a special sense of satisfaction that comes from doing it yourself.

For many paddlers, a solo trip becomes one of their most memorable wilderness experiences.

Fall is right around the corner, and with it comes some of the best outdoor opportunities of the year. Grouse hunting starts up, big fish are prominent , and the summer crowds begin to disappear.

October is one of our favorite times to explore the Boundary Waters, which is why we offer discounted outfitting rates for fall paddlers. If a quiet campsite, trophy fish, and peak Northwoods scenery sound appealing, now is the time to start planning!

Give us a call at 218-365-3466 to start your fall adventure.
