Another Bellwood in the books. 🏈

Football season is officially ON.

Always love starting the season with this game. Bellport vs. Longwood means getting to come back home, catch up with familiar faces, and share a sideline with my mentor. Full circle every time.

Here’s to another season of controlled chaos and keeping athletes in the game. 🦾🦿

And just like that, summer is gone.

Our first one as a family of 4, and somehow one of the slowest and busiest seasons of my life.

The funny thing about “slowing down” is that life didn’t really slow down at all. An idea became a run club. A postpartum running goal became the Chicago Marathon. I stepped into a new role on the SCATA Board, kept building GFIT, almost took the leap on a recovery center, and fought through the possibility of losing athletics at the school I love.

All while learning how to be a mom, a wife, a friend to other new moms, and how to hold onto the parts of myself I knew while my priorities were changing.

The last 7 months came with a lot of excitement, uncertainty, anxiety and unknowns. A constant battle between slowing down and feeling like I was losing myself in the process.

Do the things that scare you. Chase the ideas you can’t stop thinking about. Just don’t get so busy thinking about what’s next that you forget to enjoy what’s right in front of you.

NO MORE WONDERING IF THE MATH IS MATHING. 😂

ATCs if you’re still running preseason weigh-ins with a giant poster board, a Sharpie, a calculator and a prayer…I got you.

Every year, I rebuild my football weigh-in spreadsheet to make my life a little easier. This year, I invited my good friend Chat to help and boyyyy did he deliver.

We created a FREE, ATC-led hydration toolkit that:

⚖️ Tracks PRE and POST weights for up to 75 athletes
🧮 Automatically calculates recovery ounces
⏱️ Adjusts the target based on time before the next session
🟢🟡🟠🔴 Color-codes each athlete’s recovery priority
🚩 Creates a separate staff alert page
📈 Tracks individual weight fluctuations
🥤 Includes practical refueling and electrolyte guidance
☀️ Covers dehydration, poor recovery and heat-illness warning signs

No more calculating fluid replacement on the spot while 50 football players stare at you waiting for an answer.

I use weigh-ins to catch dehydration, inadequate recovery, salty-sweater patterns and potential heat-illness concerns early—helping me support healthier athletes while making preseason significantly easier to manage.

Comment **WEIGH-IN** and I’ll DM you the free toolkit.

This tool supports, but does not replace, clinical assessment, your EAP or medical policy.

Football preseason begins Monday, and preparation goes far beyond the field. 🏈

Proud to join Northwell’s annual hands-on emergency preparedness workshop, with SCATA leading football equipment extraction procedures, cardiac emergency response, and spine boarding/transport techniques.

Thank you to Northwell Health and Orlin & Cohen for providing such a valuable opportunity to practice, collaborate, and make sure our medical teams are prepared when every second matters.

Great way to sharpen our skills and get aligned before the season gets underway.

YOU’RE NOT JUST TRAINING YOUR LEGS FOR THIS MARATHON.

You’re training your brain for the moment your body starts asking you to stop.

On your next interval run, stop looking at your watch.

It’ll buzz. Your headphones will beep. You’ll know when the interval is over.

But notice how quickly your brain starts asking: How much longer? When do I get to rest?

That urge is part of the training.

You’re teaching your brain to sit with building fatigue and discomfort without allowing it to become the ONLY thing you can think about.

Because at mile 23, you don’t need your brain fixated on the 3 miles you still have left.

You need it trained to compartmentalize the discomfort, stay locked into what’s directly in front of you, and keep moving forward.

Train your legs to survive the miles.
Train your brain to keep racing when every part of you wants them to be over.

RUNNERS: YOU NEED YOUR RACE SHOES BEFORE PEAK WEEK.

If you’re racing a fall marathon, your race-day shoes should be purchased and tested on a long run by 4 weeks out — absolute latest.

BERLIN → Aug 23
CHICAGO → Sept 13
NYC → Oct 4

That means don’t wait until peak week to buy them. Get them now and start testing.

A shoe that feels great for 5 miles can be a completely different story at mile 15+ when your feet start to swell, fatigue changes your mechanics and a tiny hotspot turns into a full-blown blister.

Peak week should be your final dress rehearsal — race shoes, socks, fueling and gear.

You’ve spent months training your body for race day.

Don’t let a brand-new pair of shoes be the wildcard.
