The way you talk to yourself matters.

That voice in your head hears every “I can’t,” every “I’m not ready,” and every “I’m not good enough.”

But here’s the good news: you can change the conversation.

You don’t have to pretend everything is perfect. You just have to stop tearing yourself down while you’re trying to grow.

Speak to yourself with the same patience, encouragement, and grace you give everybody else.

You know what to say. You're just not saying it.

You gave a whole TED talk in the shower this morning. You were awesome. You had comebacks. You were holding a loofah like a mic.

Here's the part that should bother you. It's not that you don't know what to say. It's that you're not saying it. Those are two completely different problems.

Before you walk into that hard conversation, say the first line out loud in the shower: "Can I schedule a few minutes to talk about what happened?"

Say it out loud. Feel it. Let it run through your body. Then go say it for real.

You've rehearsed enough. The words are already there. Go say the darn thing.
