Race weekend #2 recap 🏍️💨 (we are a whole race weekend behind)

It’s been a busy few weeks chasing a few issues on the bike, but we’re still going rounds and staying competitive. Josh Bixler was flying solo for weekend #2 and came out ready to work right off the trailer.

Saturday started strong with a .006 light, followed by a killer .001 first round reaction time. Josh stayed deadly on the tree all day and worked his way through the field to land in the finals for the second Saturday in a row. He threw out his “worst” light of the day with a .014 to the opponent’s .028, but couldn’t quite cover the number and came up just short of the win.

Sunday he came back swinging and grabbed the bye run after posting the best reaction time of the only time trial. Unfortunately with an even number of bikes and sleds, he had to race for it anyway. He carried the bye through first round before getting beat on the tree in round two and was chased down on the top end.

Overall, not a bad weekend at all and plenty to build on. We loaded up with a list of things to fix and went right back to work getting ready for race weekend #3… recap coming in a couple days 👀🔥

Race Recap – Opening Weekend 🔥

We’re back!

Opening weekend was a solid one for Bixler Racing. Both Josh and Blake got back in the saddle after some time off—and in typical fashion, we were still wrenching on the bikes Friday night 😅

Saturday:
We rolled into time runs chasing a shifting issue on Blake’s bike. Got it partially sorted and made a clean second hit. Josh? Picked up right where we left off last May 💪
Blake went out first round, while Josh had to buy back—but drove the old KZ all the way to the finals, ending the day runner-up after being a little late on the tree.

Sunday:
Only one time run and both bikes decided to act up…
Blake’s issue came back, and Josh’s bike wouldn’t shift either.

Quick thrash mode:
✔️ Blake’s shifter was off a tooth — fixed
✔️ Josh had a wire knocked off the shift button — fixed

First round with basically no data…
Blake made a clean pass but broke out. Josh rushed to the line after last-minute repairs and went -.003 red.

Not the results we wanted—but we shook the rust off, found the issues, and got Blake some valuable seat time. Josh is getting back in his groove.

Race weekend #1 = success.

On to weekend #2!

🏍️ FIRST RACE WEEKEND STARTING TOMORROW!!

One bike about to be loaded in the trailer and the other is all set to come off the lift and into the trailer! If you know us, we like to get things done right up until the very last minute 🤣

Great Lakes Dragaway, we coming for you!!!

Who’s coming this weekend?? IHRA bracket program racing Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 8am for spectators, time runs for racers start at 10am! Racing usually goes on thru late afternoon/early evening.

We’re banking on a great vehicle count! We hope to see you in the pits, in the lanes, or in the stands!! 👀

📣Another round of recap from the last couple years 📣

Everyone, this is Tad. Josh and Morgan’s son who is now just over a year old! 🩵

Not only did our team bring home championships, divisional titles, and bragging rights for making it to worlds, but we brought home the next generation of Bixler’s in February of 2025!

Tad got to witness history being made during our exciting 2024 season from the comfort of the inside of his mamas belly (not so comfy for mom 😆). And he visited his daddy, grandpa Tim, and uncle Thomas for races at the home track during the 2025 season.

We’re so excited for him to get to experience more racing, spend time with our race family and see what daddy and grandpa have been up to in the shop this year!

Get ready to see this cutie pie running around, cheering on his family and friends! 🩵🏁

2 weeks until the 2026 season opener!! 🔥🏁

Attention in the pits… it’s getting REAL. We’re counting down the days and can’t wait to see everyone back in the staging lanes.

Part 3 of 3 – 2024 Season Recap: World Finals 🏁🔥

After a 14-hour haul, we rolled into Holly Springs Motorsports Park for the IHRA World Finals alongside the Collins Racing team and the rest of the Great Lakes Dragaway crew. Even better—Lisa Omlor Bixler and Tim Bixler were there to back us up all weekend.

Time runs ✔️
Gamblers race up next…

Tom didn’t show his hand (saving it for the big show), and Josh made it to 4th round before going -.007 red at 2AM against our buddy Austin Stidham.

Sunday: The World Championship Race

Round 1: Both bikes in… both bikes moving on 💪
Round 2: Josh Bixler matched up with the defending World Champ—dead even on the tree, but came up .011 short at the stripe.
Thomas Bixler grabbed the bye with the best winning reaction time of round one and carried it by turning on another win light in round two.

Round 3: Tom’s run ended with a tough -.009 red against the eventual World Champion.

🏆 Final result: Top 10 in the WORLD – finishing 9th overall

An incredible way to cap off a strong 2024 season. Proud of this team and everything we accomplished—now it’s time to reload for what’s next. 👊

Part 2 of 3 — 2024 Season Recap: Division Finals 🏁

We rolled into US41 Dragstrip repping Great Lakes Dragaway and got greeted with a rain-soaked start to the weekend. Jumped into the gamblers race but couldn’t quite get things going.

Main event? Whole different story.

Josh Bixler and Thomas Bixler both carved their way through the field and ended up meeting in the FINALS. Josh went -.0009 red, and Tom sealed the deal — bringing home Bixler Racing’s FIRST EVER Division Championship 🏆

With Tom already locked into the IHRA World Finals from his track championship, Josh earned the nod to represent the division on the big stage.

Trailers loaded back up… and back on the road we go. Let’s keep it rolling. 🔥

Just under 3 weeks until we’re BACK at the track kicking off the 2026 season! 🏁🔥

Let’s rewind to 2024… it was a wild start. We were thrashing to get Thomas Bixler’s engine in the bike the Sunday before the season opener, while Josh Bixler rolled in on a borrowed ride. Tim Bixler jumped in partway through the year and the momentum just kept building.

Tom went on an absolute tear—putting a 17 round gap on the field and locking in a track championship at the legendary Great Lakes Dragaway. Josh backed it up strong with a 2nd place finish to cap off the season.

Then it was time to load up and head to the divisional race… 👀
