Congrats to this weeks TCHS athletes of the week Bayleigh Taylor and Jon Pettry!

Coach Kerns says, “Bayleigh has been our lead off hitter all year and has made a great impact as a senior leader on this team. She wears multiple hats playing outfield and dominating on the mound as well. She has grown so much this year as a player & person. I’m excited for her to continue her softball career at Kankakee Community College next year. Congrats Bayleigh!

Coach Englehardt says, “Jon’s hitting has really picked up the last couple weeks with multi-hit games and a continued solid presence on the mound. He has also moved to playing first base, covering for an injured teammate. Doing an outstanding job especially having never played there before. “

🖤💛Congrats to this weeks TCHS athletes of the week! Track athletes Calvin Cook and Gwen Boyd 💛🖤

Coach Hornaday says, ,”Calvin is having a great senior season. Key piece of our sprint relays which are among the best in the state of IL. “

Coach Sterkel says, “Gwen competes with confidence and determination, Gwen delivered impressive performances in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, continuing to establish herself as a versatile athlete

What makes Gwen’s accomplishments even more impressive is her willingness to step outside of her comfort zone for the good of the team. As Tuscola Girls only 300 hurdler, she embraced a new challenge and quickly turned it into a strength. In a short amount of time, she has already etched her name into the program’s history, breaking into the Top 10 list in the 300 hurdles since 2010.

Gwen’s selfless, team-first mentality and commitment to growth make her a tremendous asset to the program and a well-deserving recipient of this recognition.”

Kamden has broken so many records lately, he’s holding the school record in both the 100 and 200. He’s broken meet records and is ranked the in state.

Coach Englehardt says, ”Connor had a big week at the plate for us. Over three games he batted .636 (7 for 11) with 2 home runs and 12 RBI. He also played a very solid shortstop with no errors in 14 opportunities. Through the halfway point of the season he leads the team in batting average (.364), on base percentage (.500), home runs (3) and RBI’s (19). On the mound he has a 3-0 record with 1 save, 27 strikeouts in 19 innings and a 2.21 ERA. “

Coach Sterkel says, Ava Kleiss turned in an outstanding all-around performance at last week’s ALAH Invitational, making her presence felt across multiple events and solidifying her place among the program’s best. Her efforts have earned her a spot on our Top 10 list in both horizontal jumps, currently sitting #6 all-time in the Long Jump and #5 in the Triple Jump.

Time to get caught up from spring break week☀️

Congrats to these athletes of the week!
Softball Player Alaina Smith, track athlete Kali Gilpin, track athlete Riley McCall and baseball player Evan Englehardt.

Coach Kerns says, “Alaina has really made strides in her game from last year to this year. She is making great contact with the ball at the plate and is leading the team in hits. At first base, she has been a wall and picks a short throw easily. She is always working hard and has shown great leadership. “

Coach Sterkel says, “Kali Gilpin’s jump of 5’2” is a direct reflection of the work she’s put in over the past three years. She’s one of the most coachable athletes I’ve ever had, always willing to listen, learn, and push herself to improve. It’s been incredible to watch her grow not only into a top high jumper, but also into a true leader for our team. Qualifying for Top Times at Illinois Wesleyan is well deserved, and I’m excited to see the impact she’ll continue to make, both in the high jump and as she contributes to our running events this outdoor season.”

Coach Hornaday says, “He was 2nd in both hurdle races at Sullivan. Both times were BIG personal bests. He’s shown tremendous improvement. “

Coach Englehardt says, “Evan’s had a great start to the year. Batting .400 through 6 games and two strong pitching outings with 12.2 innings pitched, 15 strikeouts, only 3 walks and a 1.66 ERA. He comes to the ballpark with a positive attitude and treats his teammates well.”

Congrats to these basketball players for being named Athletes of the Week, Caiden Russo and Kaeden Chenoweth 🖤💛🏀

Coach Bozarth says, “Caiden has been battling an injury for the last month and continues to lead us in rebounding. He provides an inside scoring threat and is great at protecting the basket on the defensive end. Despite his pain, he’s determined to do everything he can to help his teammates succeed. “

“Kaedan’s role has immensely changed from last year to this year. He’s become one of our best rebounders and puts teammates in position to succeed. He’s had recent games where he’s scored it well and always brings life, energy, and enthusiasm to practice. “
