Hello Group Riders!
This week I extend a specific invitation to those of you who haven’t ridden with us yet, or to folks who maybe have ridden once or twice before but haven’t joined in a while. I am really proud of the community we have fostered through these rides. I am heartened by the ways folks take care of one another and leave space for each other to experience a longer less practiced ride. I love our social times around the BBQ after the rides and have often stood back in awe of the eclectic mix of folks who have come out to ride with us. So, come take a chance on us. The “regular” rides are not super easy but I think they are do-able for most bike riders. Let us know where you’d like to ride or think about curating a route to lead others on.
Ok, with that, this week we are doing a regular and rugged route. I am really excited to have Victor back this week leading an MTB ride for our rugged route. Here is what he has to say:
Hey fellow MTB enthusiasts, it’s finally time to go back on the trails again! This week we are going to the Montague Plains for this week’s ‘Rugged Ride’. We’ll be riding to and from there from the shop, (about 2 miles of mostly road) and 6-8 miles of windy, mildly technical singletrack when we get there. For those of you who are less familiar with our MTB rides, they aren’t too technical, and most any off-road bike will suffice, in fact we encourage breaking out those old 90’s mountain bikes if you got ‘em. However, expect short steep climbs and descents that will require functioning gears and brakes! Bring water and lights; expect to sweat a lot and be riding back to the shop in the dark. Ride will leave at 6:15 and return (hopefully) by 9. See you there! - Victor
And for our “regular ride”: I created a road route up and back down through Gill. We will touch upon Route 10 at the northernmost tip. Expect wooded roads with a couple of descent climbs and quick downhill payoffs. These roads are pretty sleepy with minimal traffic but bright clothing and lights are encouraged to make our presence known.
Please bring lights, water, and a snack for the ride, & maybe something to grill after!
