Update on Chris this morning
Friday 9/11

Surgery was good as it gets
Dr Maou and the entire surgical and care team here at IUH Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis have been nothing but amazing.

Surgery was supposed to be 3 hours and it was in done
2 hours and 15 minutes! Surgeon said it couldn’t have gone more perfect.

3 days ago he couldn’t move anything not even his eyeballs
Pain 10/10

Less than 24 hours ago he had spinal fusion of 7 vertebrae surgery pain before surgery 9/10

Today he’s standing with assistance and sitting in a chair !
Pain level 7/10 today

I never thought he would be standing or sitting in a chair 15 hours post surgery.

Pain is decreasing consistently- but decreasing is key.

We did learn today some other news that he actually broke 2 ribs on the R side
and 7 ribs on the L side😳

Keep the thoughts and prayers coming it’s working ! It’s definitely helping !! Thank you again to everyone that has reached out or had him in your thoughts❤️

If questions arise please forward them to the NBQ Motorsports page and follow here for updates it’s too hard to reply to everyone individually on our personal phones. My fingers are tired 😵‍💫

Lots of love,
Chris & Sena

Don’t forget to watch and cheer on the rest of the NBQ team on Speedrome.tv for heat races today and main event tomorrow night.

On a side note of what happened to Chris I have to throw this out there. Please racers don’t skimp on your safety gear!! We build great chassis and it did exactly what it was supposed to do but without a good seat, good belts and I can’t stress this enough A HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT things could have been much worse.
Race family please take care of yourselves…the money you save on lesser gear may cost you more than any dollar amount!

Update on Chris Curtis

First off I have had quite a few texts asking how Chris was injured while here in Indy:

On 9/8 Chris was competing in WF8 Tuesday Tune up 50 lap feature Indianapolis Speedrome when around lap 8 the throttle stuck wide open with nothing to stop him but the cement barrier.

Not a fun evening for #74 NBQ Chassis he has been hospitalized ever since:

So for the most recent update:

Chris was finally taken out of the ICU yesterday and transferred to Intermediate care - an awesome step forward ! He has an amazing night of sleep in his own room no beeping and lights out he went. 💤

This morning on 9/10 he woke up in more pain than ever before so the Neurosurgeon sent him to have new imaging. Well it was not what he wanted to see- so as of now Chris is being prepped for back surgery. It should take about 3 hours. (Fitting for the 3 hour race tomorrow)

Please send all your love and well wishes on this page. He has not been able to read anything since we have been in the hospital. I have been able to read him most of your messages and that keeps him going and smiling. But he’s been in a lot of pain so these messages keep him smiling 🫶🏼
So thank you everyone for that ❤️

He was able to see the most heartfelt video from some of the NBQ team and fellow racers that the Speedrome made to him-he said to tell everyone thank you for all the wishes and love and he may even had gotten alittle emotional ❤️

I’ll post more when he gets out of surgery. This surgery is priority so foot and hand surgery go to the back burner for now.

Reminder to stay tuned tonight for WF8 qualifying and cheer on

Broken left hand -casted

Broken right finger will need surgery

Broke. Left foot (3 bones) that will require surgery -casted

Meet Rosie Wigglepuff, a 2-year-old Olde English Bulldog mix with a huge, goofy personality and a love for all toys and balls!
Rosie absolutely adores her people. You'll get the biggest wiggles and a nub that never stops wagging when you come home. She also loves to give kisses, especially Rosie-style kisses where she puts her face right against yours and stares directly into your eyes.
Rosie is cautious around new people and can have a big bark or nervous piddles when she is concerned, a loud noise scares her, or she gets overly excited. She does best meeting new people when a ball is involved and will still need slow introductions on neutral ground, but once she decides you're okay, she's OK!
Rosie has been doing amazing with long walks twice daily. She loves routine, exercise, and stimulation in any form. She's been working on loose leash walking and is doing amazing with a gentle leader. She is very smart, she watches everything you do, and she actively listens to you when you talk to her. She needs a family that will continue to work on training and provide calm, structured guidance and stimulation. A yard is also a must, so she can run and play off leash and potty as needed.
Rosie likes cats, but needs to be an only dog and should be in a house with older children (16+) only. Great news, she's very healthy! She had TPLO surgery on one knee that has healed great and has no allergies (a rare thing for a bulldog)!
Rosie s been good with a consistent potty routine. She can piddle a little when she wakes up in the morning, so having a yard is ideal. She also has some little piddles when nervous or excited, but with increased confidence and a good routine, these have decreased. It is recommended that her new family be patient and consistent as she continues to build confidence.
Rosie is a sweet, smart, hilarious girl who will make you laugh every day with her goofy antics. If you have a securely fenced yard, an active lifestyle, and the patience to give Rosie the routine and stimulation she needs, this energetic toy-loving girl could be your perfect match!

Rosie's Adoption Fee is $900. Apply online at www.BulldogHavenNW.org
