Women's Salon Series A salon is a gathering by a host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine taste and increase participant knowledge through conversation.

Our Salons are designed to be an informative place for women to learn about career issues related to women, current events and family life. We understand that women have many of the same career goals as men but face unique challenges in working toward those goals. Each Salon features a dynamic speaker with an academic or professional background who presents a specific topic and leads an interactiv

We learned something new about El Rio Health at our latest Women’s Salon Series! 💙

The answer is A) Optometry! 👓

During our conversation, we also learned that El Rio is the largest nonprofit dental provider in Arizona, with nearly 100,000 dental visits last year across multiple Tucson locations.

We loved getting the opportunity to learn more about the services and resources available to our Tucson community.

One of the things we learned during our latest Women’s Salon Series: you can choose El Rio Health even if you have private insurance. 🏥💙

Today, about 1 in 4 El Rio patients has private insurance — something many people in our community may not realize.

We also learned more about how El Rio helps patients navigate changes in coverage, from private insurance and Medicaid to sliding fee scale options.

Last year alone, El Rio colleagues helped process more than 27,000 Medicaid applications for members of our community.

El Rio Health's impact reaches farther than many people realize.

In this Women's Salon Series conversation, Brenda Goldsmith shares just how much El Rio has grown—now serving more than 130,000 patients, with 15 locations across Southern Arizona.
That means approximately 1 in 9 Tucsonans receive care through El Rio Health.

As the organization continues to expand, including a new location at the former Tucson Heart Hospital, its mission remains the same: making high-quality, compassionate healthcare accessible to our community.

We were honored to continue the conversation with Alden Carroll at the REFINED Women’s Salon Series as she shared practical tools for nervous system regulation and emotional processing.

From fight, flight, and freeze responses to simple somatic practices that help bring the brain back online, the discussion highlighted how movement, awareness, and self regulation can help people process stress in healthier ways.

We were honored to host Alden Carroll at the REFINED Women’s Salon Series as she guided attendees through Emotional Freedom Technique tapping and practical nervous system regulation tools.
