Our hearts are with the people of Venezuela after this week’s devastating earthquakes.

When disasters happen, some of the most urgent needs are also the easiest to overlook: access for people with disabilities, rehabilitation for life-changing injuries, medication, mobility support, mental health care, safe shelter, and long-term recovery after the first wave of aid has moved on.

Mrs. Chamberlain and I have had the privilege of seeing Humanity & Inclusion’s work firsthand—in Ethiopia, Nepal, and especially in the Philippines after the 2013 super typhoon. What stood out to us most was their holistic approach. They do not just respond to the immediate crisis; they help people rebuild their lives with dignity, practical support, and long-term care.

Humanity & Inclusion US is now responding in Venezuela, with teams focused on inclusive emergency response, rehabilitation, psychosocial support, and making sure people with disabilities and other at-risk communities are not left behind.
