Today is the day!

The Spangle Spectacular, a unique world championship that will take place on a packed and fun-filled Saturday at Spangle's Harvester Restaurant and Lounge.

The Mechanical Bull Riders World Championships start at 2:30 pm on May 31, 2025. But the Spangle Spectacular Sports and Community Festival is jam-packed with events for the entire family. All of it will help raise money for the Spangle Food Bank.

“We appreciate The Harvester putting this event on for the benefit of the food bank," said Pastor Lonnie Scott with the Spangle Community Church, the site of the Spangle Food Bank. "They are doing this on their own initiative, and we greatly appreciate it.”

Pastor Scott helps coordinate two separate food banks. The first is open every Saturday with supplies from the Cheney Safeway. The second, a branch of Second Harvest, opens on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

“We cover a wide territory. We go halfway to Cheney on Spangle Cheney Road, all the way to Plaza,” Scott explained. “We have people who come from Waverly. Most of the people who come are not residents of Spangle.”

Scott knows people need help. It’s why he’s grateful for the Harvester’s continued support, from the Spangle Spectacular to the food bank donation jar inside the restaurant.

You can bring nonperishable items to the Spangle Spectacular and leave them with Pastor Lonnie at a table for the food bank. Then, celebrate with your neighbors, friends, and family in a one-of-a-kind community festival jam-packed with events. We’re talking everything from a community breakfast and trap shooting contest to a unique take on a basketball shooting contest, all to benefit the Spangle Food Bank. Every event except for trap shooting will take place at the Harvester Restaurant and Lounge.

7 am: Community Breakfast
9 am: Trap Shoot at Spangle Gun Club. Call (509) 995-4305 to enter.
Noon: Basketball Shooting Tournament.
2:30 pm: Mechanical Bull Riding Competition Begins.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Spangle Food Bank.
