This juicy setup (and much more!) will be taught Sept 20-22 during Leeann’s Restorative Yoga Therapy training at in Chicago. Blankets, bolster, blocks, chairs and straps in Paschimottanasana??? Yes, please!!! Students who experience limited mobility in the hamstrings can tend to round the lumbar and thoracic regions of the spine in Seated Forward Fold. This rounded lumbar position can create a posterior tilt in the pelvis and increase the stress load in the lower back = increased low back pain. Not to mention the excessive kyphotic rounding that can happen in the thoracic spine, which we already tend to have anyway (as mentioned yesterday).

Supporting our students with props to create lift and length will help maintain an elongated spine as well as allowing them to feel supported and more able breath smoothly and to relax into the pose.

Meet Leeann Carey:
Yoga found Leeann in the late 1970's and hasn't left her since. She is the author of Restorative Yoga Therapy: The Yapana Way to Self-Care And Well-Being, which reaches the next plateau in the art of restorative yoga technique and practice. Leeann opened the first full-service yoga studio in her southern California community 25 years ago, wheress he developed important skills for operating a successful "yoga business". Her eclectic style of teaching was forged over many years of study, and she shares that knowledge today both personally and through the many teachers she has trained. Her expertise is sought after for both her technical knowledge and compassion for her students and their well-being and has been teaching Yoga Alliance certified teacher training programs for 20 years. She is affectionately referred to by may as "the teacher's teacher."

Leeann will be presenting at Yogaview’s Chicago location September 20-22, 2019.
