Duck preseason means it’s time to get to work. 🦆

Another batch of new blinds is going together for this season.

One thing we’ve always believed at Ranch Country Waterfowl is that you can’t set a blind on one pond and just hope the ducks show up. With 80+ ponds and watersheds across the ranch, we want blinds scattered throughout the property so we can hunt where the birds actually want to be.

Wind, weather and duck movement can completely change where we need to be from one day to the next. Having multiple setups ready across the ranch gives us options and gives every group the best opportunity we can provide.

We’re also building these new blinds with comfort and wind protection in mind. There are plenty of days when the best movement doesn't happen first thing in the morning. On our private ground, our out-of-state hunters aren't getting pushed out at 11:59 a.m. like they would on Kansas public ground. If the birds tell us we need to sit longer, we can sit longer — and be comfortable doing it.
There’s a lot that happens around here before opening day — habitat work, millet, scouting, building blinds and getting everything ready for another season.

These are just the frames. We’ll show you the finished product in a couple weeks.

November will be here before we know it. 🦆

Before RCW was ever a business, Robby was already there.

Robby and I have been best friends since middle school. We've grown up together, worked together, and spent countless hours on this ranch. He's family to me, and there's nobody I trust more.

Since he practically grew up out here with me, he knows this ranch like the back of his hand. Over the years, waterfowl has become a true passion of his, and it shows. Whether we're scouting birds, setting decoys, or getting everything ready before clients arrive, he's all in.

One of the best things about having Robby on the team is knowing I never have to wonder if something is getting done right. He takes pride in this place, cares about our clients, and treats Ranch Country Waterfowl like it's his own. We're lucky to have him as part of the RCW family

The last week or so has been about something much bigger than hunting. Thank you to everyone who honored Eli and showed so much love and support to his family. It meant more than you'll ever know.

As we get closer to duck season, it's time to get back to what this page has always been about. That doesn't mean we'll ever forget Eli. He'll always be a part of Ranch Country Waterfowl and the people who make it special.

Now it's time to scout birds, build blinds, work on habitat, introduce the crew, and get ready for another season.

Duck season is getting closer. Let's get after it.
