Eric Akin was one of the nation's most consistent wrestlers, earning 4 NCAA All-American honors, 3 Big Eight titles, and an NCAA runner-up finish at Iowa State. Internationally, he represented Team USA and won a World Cup silver medal. Today, he continues to impact the sport as an award-winning high school coach and mentor.

Congrats to our Saints who competed this weekend at Freestyle & Greco State!

This year the state wrestling body renamed the tournament after Coach Akin’s father John for his many years, accomplishments and contributions to Kansas wrestling.

The tournament is now named the USA Wrestling Kansas John Akin Freestyle and Greco State Championships.

🤼‍♂️🏅 2026 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP🏅🤼‍♀️

What a weekend!
5 State medalists for the Saints!
Senior Stephen Carroll captured the Heavyweight State Championship with a buzzer be**er escape in a wild overtime match! Juniors Hank Kolich and Kyle Grewal dominated day 2 and stormed back to place 3rd! Junior Leo Cisper earned the second State medal of his career placing 6th. Freshman Keila Cisper became our first girls State medalist in school history placing 5th!
Overall we placed 9th out of 36 teams in 5A.
We are very proud of this team and the way they showed up this weekend to cap off the season!

Senior Stephen Carroll hit the 100 career win milestone yesterday! Stephen achieved his 100th, 101st and 102nd career wins on his way to the State finals. This brings his Career record to 102-34 with 96 career pins! Stephen is now a 3x State medalist and 2x State finalist, he will wrestle for the state championship this afternoon!
