Congrats Kenny!

As Granbury Generals, we celebrate all the kids and all their accomplishments. In the spirit of encouraging our young athletes to be academically accomplished, outstanding community members, or powerhouse multi-sport athletes, we will be highlighting a new football player on periodic Sundays.

Today our accomplished Granbury General is 5th grader, Kenny Williams of Coach Williams team!

Kenny picked up the track event of Shotput for the first time this summer and qualified for State where he took 4th place in the 10U division. Way to go Kenny!!!!

We want to celebrate all our football players and their accomplishments, not just football. Multi-sport, academic, community conscious, or any other outstanding character accomplishments please send to [email protected]. Huge congratulations to Chris McKinney for his astonishing National Title in the Masters Pentathlon (M55-M59).

About a year ago Chris decided to try something new and and started training with the goal to compete as a Multi at the Masters Nationals in 2022.

- He came, he saw, he conquered! -

Age is just a number, it’s up to you what you make out of your life. Set goals and work towards them, it doesn’t matter if you’re 10 years old or over 50 like Chris.

Are you still trying to figure out if you need help, or if I am the right person to help you?

Let me me explain why it is important to have someone on your side while you’re trying to reach your goals.

I have been a thrower for 10+ years myself and been in the same situation. I thought I can do it on my own and do not need outside help. Well, I was wrong!

As with many things in life there is always a person that has been in your place before and knows what needs to be done to get you to the next level. We all need mentors, teacher or coaches to help us and lead us in the right direction. We just need to find the right fit for us personally.

I have had only two coaches in my entire career that were interested and invested in getting me to reach my personal goals: My dad and Coach Cook at ACU.

Don’t listen to those that try to push you down or don’t give you the attention you deserve. You matter regardless of your skill level, physical abilities or any other factor. We all have goals and deserve to be treated equally!

Find yourself a mentor or coach that cares about your personal success. I can be that one for you!

Just give me a shot and let me prove it to you!

Official Track season may be coming close to an end, but that doesn't mean we need to stop here.

If you want to throw far next year, now is the time to start working towards your goals. Don't put your success in the hands of fate, be proactive and start working now.
