If your singing career (whether part-time or full time - music is never just a hobby 🙂‍↔️)
hasn’t been effortless, don’t be discouraged.

In fact, just like in our walk with God; He said we could count on sufferings to happen (John 16:33, Luke 9:23), when you’re pursuing your God given music dream; you will have hardship.

You will face rejection, discouragement, failure, boredom and so on.

There will be moments when you need to push through and keep showing up as you are growing your craft, your audience, your character.

And then there will be many moments to be still and strenghten yourself in the Lord, like David did, when people say mean things about your voice or your music.

Surrender your timing to God’s timing, especially when doors aren’t opening.

Yes, when you understand your gifts, there will be a sense of “ease” at times. It seems to be natural, because you were born for this.

But when things are hard, this isn’t a sign that God isn’t in it 😉

Keep going! 🫂

Speech singing is SUCH a fun tool to play with in your vocal artistry.

It can make certain parts of a song feel more conversational and natural.

You can use it to play with phrasing, dynamics, tone and word emphasis without having to “sing” every note the same way. It also is a great way to “get” into your chest voice if you tend to sing in mix/ head voice.

It’s something you’ll hear a lot in pop music and something to pay attention to.

Just another tool you can use to your voice when the song calls for it. 🎤

Hey Singer, if you’ve been dealing with acid reflux, you know how frustrating it can be when you’re doing “all the right things” for your voice… and it still feels irritated, tired or just not quite like itself.

Most people know about GERD — acid reflux that causes the classic heartburn symptoms. This isn’t necessarily bad news for a singer.

But there’s another type called **LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux)**, where reflux travels higher up and reaches the larynx and vocal folds. The tissues of your vocal folds are not build to hold acid that well. It’s often called silent reflux, because you don’t feel the burn. It’s a sneaky one.

And for singers, that matters. A LOT.

As a voice specialist, I knew all the literature on it, but the past two years, I went from knowing the theory behind LPR to taking a pretty deep dive into the practical side of it. I’ve tried a LOT of things, changed habits, experimented, researched… and figured out what actually makes a difference for me.

And this is one of the things I highly recommend. 👆

The demand on our voices are bigger than we often know, and it’s my heart for you to sing as effortless, freely and authentically as possible. 🎤

Singers,

I have only 1 more online private lesson spot for this next semester, starting in october 2026.

It’s on a weekday between 9am - 1pm Houston Time.

If you’ve been running into some vocal limitations, imagine the kind of progress that can happen in weekly lessons over the course 10 months 🤩🤯

I think it’s time to finally let the ceiling crumble and break through.

Curious? Send me a Private Message or respond below and I’ll reach out to you.

Most singers quit right before the exercise starts doing its job. (Isn’t that with a lot of things in life? 😉)

They’ll do an exercise a couple of times, not hear a huge difference, and think:

“I guess this one just doesn’t work for me.”

But that’s usually not what’s happening.

Some vocal adjustments can change your sound almost immediately. 🪄Changing the shape of your vocal tract, using a little more twang, or adjusting your vowels can give you instant improvement! 🙌🏻

But learning to sing isn’t JUST about making a different sound.

It’s about teaching your voice a new coordination. 💪🏻

Your vocal folds, breathing muscles, tongue, jaw, and everything around them have to learn to work together in a new way. And just like learning any other skill, that takes repetition.

The first few times you do an exercise, your brain is simply figuring it out 🧠

Then comes consistency.

Then efficiency.

Then the breakthrough.

I know it’s not a glamourous to keep doing the work 💎 But life isn’t about shortcuts.

So before you decide an exercise “doesn’t work”...

Give it enough time to actually teach your voice something.

🎙️ The singers who improve the fastest usually aren’t the ones who find the perfect exercise.

They’re the ones who stick with it long enough for the exercise to work.

So if you quit too soon, you may miss the beauty of what it could’ve been! 🌈

What is one exercise you wished worked better for you?

If you’re a Christian singer-songwriter, there is so much to learn from Josiah Queen’s vocal style.

This is not about copying Josiah, and forfeiting your own unique sound.

What this is though, is taking a brilliant singer’s tools, learning it and taking it into your songs.

In this short clip (part of a bigger video) I am sharing about Josiah’s ability to create a specific emotional and passionate sound by doing this...

Check it out and keep an eye on these 4 tools / stylistic choices coming up.

Also give the whole song of Josiah Queen, “Two Wooden Beams,” a listen. It’s SO good!

If you grew up learning that emotions are “bad” and to never trust them.. listen to this conversation I have with Mary Setrakian.

Mary Setrakian is a master vocal coach and seasoned Broadway performer and has coached singers like Mandy Moore, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, and many other artists.

🫂As a singer, feeling, identifying and embracing your emotions are a gift. A gift to others but also to yourself.

When you block or hold onto your emotions, they don’t just dissapear, they store themselves in your body. And this will manifest through your voice.

And as Mary said: there is such a difference in sound when someone is holding back vs releasing their emotions.

What if “tone deafness” is an emotional issue? 🫀

🎥 Listen to this clip and find out.

I would love to hear if this resonated with you 🙂‍↔️

Hey singer, not every vocal issue is a technique issue.

Sometimes your (singing) voice simply feels dry because of the environment you’re in. 🌿

Air-conditioning, traveling, pollen season 🐝 or dry air can all leave your throat feeling so frickin’ dry and unpredictable, even when your vocal technique is solid. I’m sure it throws you off a little. 🌬️

That’s exactly when I like using the TMRG Shine Bright Voice Classic Spray. 🍯🌿 (all natural, no toxins)

Texas is brutally hot in the summer, so I basically live in AC. And let’s not even talk about the pollen flying around, terrorizing my voice. 🌾

I don’t use it as a voice therapy tool or a vocal booster, but as a comfort support when my throat feels dry or irritated by my environment.

The ingredients in this spray are known to help soothe and support the mucous membranes of the throat, giving your throat a more comfortable feeling when it’s been exposed to dry or irritating environments. 🌿

I was honestly surprised by how well this works for me. So, as you’ve come to expect from me, I’m sharing the stuff that works! 🤎

If you deal with this too, and don’t want to be limited by a dry mouth and throat when you perform..
