Mat Rats… who? 🤔
The ones grinding when nobody’s watching.
The ones showing up early, staying late, and putting in the work.
The ones building strength, discipline, and a squad that moves like family.
Mat Rats Rebooted.
Yeah… now you know.
MAT RATS REBOOTED DOMINATE AT THURSTON COUNTY THROWDOWN: The mats at the WSWA Thurston County Throwdown were on fire this past Saturday, April 18, as Mat Rats Rebooted Wrestling put on a masterclass in technical precision and aggressive finishing.
When the final whistle blew, the Mat Rats stood atop the podium, secured the team title with 293 points, narrowly edging out Whatcom Wrestling Academy and Mat Demon Wrestling Club, who finished in a dead heat for second with 283 points each.
The story of the day wasn’t just the wins — it was the way the Mat Rats won. The team led nearly every statistical category, recording a staggering 74 combined pins and technical falls. Their aggressive style was spearheaded by individual standouts Charlie Wheeler and Triton Wait. Wheeler was unstoppable, racking up nine pins across three different divisions, while Wait followed closely with seven pins of his own.
The team’s performance reflected a culture of high-level preparation.
"These kids are putting in the work and buying in and boy does it show," said Coach Zack Demers. "We are adding to the number of hammers; if you're ready for the next step, just reach out."
The Mat Rats showed their depth by winning the "Most Techs by Team" category with 31 tech falls and "Most Pins by Team" with 43. This balanced attack across both Freestyle (FS) and Greco-Roman (GR) styles proved to be the difference-maker in a highly competitive field of 36 teams.
