Arizona State English Equestrian Team This page is dedicated to the ASU Equestrian Team. Check out http://www.asuenglishequestrianteam or " The Arizona State Equestrian Team was established in 2008.

The Arizona State equestrian team competes in the intercollegiate horse show association (IHSA) along with many other universities and colleges. We compete in region 2, zone 8 against many Southern California schools. Our goal is to allow students to enjoy riding and competing while they earn their degree. The Arizona State program enables students to transition their involvement with horses into their collegiate career. The program also provides opportunities for students who have always had an interest in horses, but never had the ability to be involved in the sport on an inexpensive budget.

Congratulations to our final senior, Genevieve Oakes! Genevieve is originally from Gilbert, Arizona, and is graduating with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Genevieve has been on the team for three years. She was our Home Manager for the 2024-2025 year! She joined the team because “ Having been in the saddle since I was four and competing through IEA in middle and high school, being away from horses at my previous school left a huge void in my life. I joined this team because I needed to foster that lifelong love for the sport again, and to work with Coach Rachel, whose leadership I’ve respected since my early days competing in Arizona. While I came here to get back into the saddle, the experience gave me so much more than just a return to the sport. My favorite memories aren’t just about the competitions themselves, but those road trips where the nerves finally gave way to genuine laughter. It was in those moments, surrounded by teammates who felt like family, that I realized I hadn’t just found a place to ride, I had finally found where I belonged. ”

Her favorite moment on the team was “Choosing to transfer here was a massive leap of faith, and coming from a place where I never quite fit in, I arrived with a lot of uncertainty. However, the moment I joined the equestrian team, that ‘outsider’ feeling vanished. My favorite memory will always be my first UofA show in Tucson; I was a total bundle of nerves, but riding down in Rachel’s car, I was laughing before we even hit the highway. That trip was the definitive turning point for me. Everyone welcomed me with open arms and provided the first real sense of belonging. ”

As she journeys beyond the team, she leaves one message of advice: “Don’t take a single ride or road trip for granted. I spent time at a school where I didn’t have this sport or this community, and it made me realize how lucky we are to have both. Support each other through the nerves, keep the laughter louder than the stress, and continue making this team a place where everyone feels they have a seat at the table. And as a last resort, always add more leg.”

Congratulations to our senior, Will Collins! Will is originally from Charlotte, NC, and is graduating with a degree in Geology & Data Science. Will has been on the team for five years. He was our Treasurer for the 2024-2026 year! He joined the team to “ continue riding while in college ” His favorite moment on the team was “Home shows. They were a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.” As he journeys beyond the team, he leaves one message of advice: “Don’t over think it. Just have fun! ”

She joined the team to “become a better rider and make friends, and it has been such an amazing experience that I am so thankful for. ” Her favorite moment on the team was “The drives to the California shows.” As she journeys beyond the team, she leaves one message of advice: “Just do your best to be in the moment and support one another!!”

Congratulations to our senior, Keira Loudabarger! Keira is originally from Gilbert, Arizona, and is graduating with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. Keira has been on the team for two years. She was our Home Manager for the 2025-2026 year! She joined the team to “ combine my love for riding with my love for team sports. I wanted to be a part of a community where we are all competing individually but also for each other. I love the relationships I have made with my teammates. ” Her favorite moment on the team was “Traveling to California together and late night talks at the Airbnb.” As she journeys beyond the team, she leaves one message of advice: “You will get out as much as you put in. I have put a lot of time into this team, and in return I have developed tremendously as a rider, been given the opportunity to compete across the country, and made lifelong friendships.”

Congratulations to our senior, Rachel Marsh! Rachel is originally from Iowa City, IA, and is graduating with a degree in Digital Marketing. Rachel has been on the team for four years. She was our Marketing Officer for the 2023-2024 year and our 2024-2026 Captain! She joined the team to “keep riding in college and I have always wanted to be truly a part of a team sport. I stayed because of the people and the community I found.” Her favorite moment on the team was “So many of the delirious show moments, sitting around in an Airbnb laughing and yapping. Getting to see people achieve their goals and push themselves at shows and at workouts! Too many to count!!” As she journeys beyond the team, she leaves one message of advice: “Listen without bias, love everyone around you including yourself - even if it’s hard, and try not to put too much pressure on yourself but push yourself because it’s so rewarding to see what you’re capable of.”

2026 Sport’s Club Banquet!

It was an absolute joy getting to watch our incredible Captain & Sports Club President Rachel speak about legacy, leadership and community. We are so proud of each and every one of our riders for an incredible year. We can’t wait for what the future has to offer.

Congratulations to all our graduating seniors. A huge thank you to for leading our team as the incredible coach you are. We are so grateful for all the love and support we’ve been surrounded with this year. Go Devils! ❤️🔱
