Whelp, fresh off our run at Blackbird, Tuesday night we gave it a go at the Keystone State Quarter Midget Racing Club Fair race. We've been to the fair the past 3 years, and Gavin has always wanted to race in it, and loves running at Keystone since its so similar to our home track, so this year we gave it a shot and met up with our buddy at Jace Bahnck 121 racing, for some carnival fun and racing. The cars still had alot of the blackbird setup in them still, so we had to make some adjustments on the fly.
Senior Honda- Shockwave- The Last time the Shockwave Machine was at Keystone it finished 6th overall in the Turkey Race for Senior Honda. Gavin started on the pole and for about half the race, stayed there. We were passed by old Oaklane buddy Logan Schibilia and stayed with him in second place through multiple restarts, then with about 7 to go, on another restart, Gavin went a little too high, and was forced out of line and took the train to the rear of the field. Within a few laps, he climbed his way back up to 4th place....then with 4 to go, an accident in front of him he couldn't avoid, popped his chain off. We fixed it. (thanks to our old friends over at Skriletz racing)....but it put us in the rear, 10th, with a green white checker to go. We gained a spot to finish 9th.
light 160- Astrotrain- The astro train finished 4th in a very uneventful race. The car is still running tighter than we want. With how well known the car is in the dirt world we definitely want to keep its reputation intact and get it going right. "Hey I know that car!!" Gets heard everywhere we take it lol. If it wasn't features only we had a big adjustment we were going to make to loosen the car up. A couple more races with it and we should have it ironed out. We did get to race with Hunter Leary again which was fun since we hadn't been on a track with him since rookie year.
All in all, our driver was happy to be back at keystone and very happy with his senior honda performance. He was incredibly fast, we just have a few minor adjustments to make to the driver and the car and we should be good to go.
Huge thanks to Cook's racing development for the Dirt power! Jimmie Phelps's Mission Impossible Racing - CSI Shocks for the killer shock setup, Rob Pinder for the Star car assist, and Bullrider Race Cars for our Killer original Chassis.
