The Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic presented by Mendez Foundation has launched the running love of thousands of kids, ages 2 to 10. But 10 is a hard ceiling, and nobody stays little forever (we’ve checked).

We want the fun to keep going after the Jr. race does. Enter My First 5K.

If your kiddo ran with us in 2025 or 2026 and has recently aged out, check your email, we've got a fun opportunity headed their way.

Grit, grace, and a smile at every finish line!

Megan has been running the Michelob Ultra Challenge with us since 2017, and even a little open heart surgery didn't get in her way.Congrats, Megan and we'll see you on the start line in February!

In 2023, Shona Carcary ran the Gasparilla 5K with four generations of her family, including her dad, who was 92 and running his very first race. She held a sign that read “My dad’s 92. What’s your excuse?” and strangers along the route clapped him forward step by step. He finished first in the over-90 division, and the plaque we mailed him still hangs on his wall next to this photo. He’s 95 now and heading on to 96, and he shows it to everyone who visits.

Shona has run Gasparilla 21 times, and this February will be her 22nd. She says no finish line has meant more than this one.

Thank you, Shona, for sharing your family’s story with us. We’ll see you on Bayshore for the 50th running, Feb 20-21.
