⚽️ Micro (in-house) Soccer — Ages 3–6 ⚽️
Our Micro program is designed to introduce our youngest players to soccer in a fun, low-pressure environment where they can learn the basics, be active, and have fun with kids their age!
⚽ What does a Micro season look like?
Micro teams practice one night per week for 45–60 minutes for six weeks. Players work on basic soccer fundamentals and may scrimmage amongst themselves as the season progresses.
At age 6, families have some flexibility. Some 6-year-olds prefer another season of Micro, while others are ready to move up to a traveling recreational team. Many of the talented players you see on our older SSC teams today got their start on a Micro field at just 3 years old! 💚
🗓️ When are practices?
This is one of our most common questions! Unfortunately, we cannot provide practice nights before teams and coaches are finalized.
SSC is run entirely by volunteers, and our coaches are volunteers as well—many are parents, board members, and coaching or helping with multiple activities. To make volunteering possible, coaches choose their team's practice day and time based on their availability and field availability.
We understand every family has a different schedule. If your assigned practice night truly doesn't work, we're happy to see what other options may be available. We just ask families for some flexibility and understanding whenever possible. 💚
👕 What does my child need?
The ONLY required equipment for Micro/In-House soccer is shin guards!
There is no required uniform for Micro. You're welcome to purchase any part of the official SSC uniform if you'd like, but you absolutely don't have to.
And before you head out to buy soccer gear, check the SSC Soccer Closet! We may have exactly what you need!
Many of our Micro players wear an older-style SSC jersey until they're old enough for traveling soccer. Jerseys are sorted by size to the best of our ability, although some no longer have tags.
Just let your coach know at the first practice if you'd like to look through the Soccer Closet, and we can help find something that works for your player.
💵 We suggest a $5 donation per item to SSC, but a donation is NOT required. Donations help us continue keeping registration costs as low as possible for our families.
Donations can be:
• Cash or check placed in the lockbox in the soccer shed
• Venmo
At the end of the day, Micro soccer is pretty simple: shin guards, comfortable clothes, and a kid ready to run around, learn a little soccer, and have some fun! ⚽️💚
