The youth season wrapped up last weekend at the AAU South Ga. State Championships. Between that and the USA Team Ga State Championships 2 weeks ago, we were represented extremely well by the youth of Screven County. At the 2 State level events, our little club brought home 7 medals. We had 6 state finalists, and 3 champs. Which is a huge improvement from 1 year ago. Wrestling is a tough sport on the body and the brain. It teaches you how to deal with discomfort and power through tough situations. Whether it was grinding through practices, or sticking to a lackluster diet for weeks at a time to make sure they made weight, these kids put in the work and it payed off. In a time when most kids are conditioned to quit something when they don’t experience instant success or gratification, it makes me proud to see our little group accept the challenges of defeat and slowly work towards a goal. They are proof that if you are consistent with anything in life, you will improve. Show up everyday…even when you don’t feel like it…and good things will happen.
