๐Ÿšจ COMMUNITY SUPPORT NEEDED ๐Ÿšจ

The LUHS Board Meeting is happening tomorrow, April 14, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the LUHSD Board Room on Main Street.

We are asking our community to show up and make your voices heard.

The decision to cut the LHS Swim Team has already impacted our studentsโ€”and the long-term effects will be even greater. This program provides more than just a sport. It offers opportunity, structure, academic motivation, and a sense of belonging for so many student-athletes.

Please come share your thoughts, concerns, and disappointment with the board. Our students deserve to be heard, supported, and given every opportunity to succeed.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Your voice matters.
๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ Stand with our swimmers.
๐Ÿ“ Be there.

It's not right that these students continue to fight for their team!
Community, please stand up for our students and fight for them!

The Lassen Union High School District has CUT the Lassen High School Swim Team.

This program is more than a sportโ€”itโ€™s a place where students build confidence, discipline, and community.

Now, that opportunity is gone.

๐Ÿ’” This hurts our students.
๐Ÿ’” This hurts our community.

We need your voice to bring it back.

๐Ÿšจ Lassen High School Swim Team Has Been Cut ๐Ÿšจ

We are devastated to share that the Lassen High School Swim Team has been cut from LHS programs.

Our swimmers spoke at the March 10th school board meeting, pleading with the district to negotiate with the pool rather than eliminate the program entirely. These students showed courage by standing up for something they love.

Last season the team worked hard to raise funds to help offset costs, and they were fully willing to continue fundraising for future seasons. The swimmers, parents, and supporters are committed to finding solutions โ€” but we need the communityโ€™s help right now.

Swimming provides students with teamwork, discipline, physical health, and a positive place to belong. Losing this program would take away an incredible opportunity for current and future students.

๐Ÿ’œ We are asking our community for help:
โ€ข Please email school leadership and ask them to reconsider cutting the swim program.
โ€ข Encourage them to work with the pool to negotiate a solution.
โ€ข Share this post so more people know whatโ€™s happening.

๐Ÿ“ง Assistant Principal: [email protected]

We are also actively looking for donors, sponsors, and community partners who want to help save this program for our students.

Our swimmers are fighters โ€” and we believe our community will fight with them.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿป Letโ€™s work together to save Lassen High School Swim.

No Fall Season?!!
We hate seeing an empty pool when it could be serving the public and our swim teams.

The fall season is once again at risk โ€” but the community can change that.

๐Ÿšจ A closed pool serves zero people โ€” including our swim teams.

If the pool is sitting empty, ask the question:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Why isnโ€™t it open for public use and team practices?

The community deserves access to a pool we already pay for.

Don't let the 2025 swim team be the last team to swim for our community!! Speak up for these students!

No fall swimming season?!
An empty pool isnโ€™t โ€œsaving money.โ€
Itโ€™s wasting opportunity.

โŒ No public swim
โŒ No adult programs
โŒ No lap swim
โŒ No lessons
โŒ No swim teams
โŒ No community benefit

We donโ€™t need a closed pool.
We need a used pool.

๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ HLVRA Board Meeting Update โ€“ Fall Season & Swim Team ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you to everyone who attended Tuesdayโ€™s meeting โ€” and especially to those who spoke on behalf of the community and the swim team. An incoming freshman even addressed the board to ask that the pool remain open for the fall season. ๐Ÿ‘

Management shared that the estimated cost for utilities and staffing for the two-month fall season is approximately $21,000. The high school does not have the funding to cover that amount for the 1ยฝ hours per day the team uses the pool.

Last fall, community use generated about $2,000.

If more community members participate in fall lessons, lap swim, self-led aerobics, and purchase passes, we can demonstrate that there is real demand (maybe public swim will be added)โ€” and that the community will support the cost by actively using the pool.

๐Ÿ“Œ Meeting Highlights:

โ€ข Meetings may move to 4:00 p.m. and be livestreamed (more info in March).
โ€ข Youth lap swim is still under review. Currently, programs (except Public Swim & Teen Night 13+) are 18+.
โ€ข Online registration is tabled.
โ€ข Cleaning/algae procedures and water safety test results will be posted publicly.
โ€ข The Pool Manager/Director has accepted a new position with the City. The board will review staffing structure moving forward.

๐Ÿ“ฃ If youโ€™ve taken the survey, you can return and answer new questions โ€” including funding options.
