Youth Athletic Development! There are specific motor skills you need to coach at certain ages. Biomotor qualities like strength, power, speed, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance is NOT a focus at my nephews ages. Under the age of 10 we focus on their movement skills. I coach task based outcomes and movement skills. Kids this age need to be entertained. Gamify movement skills that have purposeful challenges that are meaningful to them. We always play games. If you don’t have 60 minutes to exercise every day can you commit to 7minutes spread out throughout your busy schedule? We found that building a habit of exercising more frequently in micro durations or doses is an extremely efficacious practice. Most people who do not exercise or are sedentary should NOT be exercising for 60 minutes per day. The reality is they can’t tolerate the repeated stress of a 60 minutes per day session. Build your tolerance over time. Your body will thank you.

Consistency wins the day! Building a streak is the key to health and longevity. Long workouts with high levels of stress are not appropriate for sedentary people. They cannot tolerate the physical stress and before long they quit. we coach people how to microdose movement to build movement skill and challenge their capacity over time. This is a safe and effective way to build healthy behaviors with exercise. So a healthy New Year’s resolution is to be consistently keeping a streak at moving a little bit each day with Seven Movements.
