Mick Krueger for Lodi School Board

Mick Krueger for Lodi School Board I am officially running for Lodi School Board. I want the future of Lodi to continue to be promising I want to provide the support to ensure academic excellence.

I have spent my professional career looking for opportunities to improve learning for students regardless of their economic, social, or special needs. I have worked hard to support and provide encouragement to families and fellow teachers who work or live with these children on a daily basis. I want to provide input into our future; our future are the children of our community. I have almost a de

cade of my life contributed to the academic growth of many children in Lodi with my service as an educator at the elementary level. During this time I got to see the many wonderful things the students and staff have done to make Lodi the great school district it currently is. I also have seen the changes that have occurred over the past few years that have put strains on our community and schools and hope that I am able to take what I have seen and experienced and use this knowledge to make a positive difference as a school board member. I have the educational knowledge and training in an array of areas. I have earned a BS in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Learning Disabilities, and an MA in Educational Psychology. I was an active member for years on the Math committee and was the Elementary Building Social Studies Representative for many years. If elected, I am hoping to actively contribute my talents and knowledge to the school board while working collaboratively as a team with other board members. My role, as a board member, would include being prepared, honest, communicate with constituents and superintendent to ensure the needs of all children in the district are being met. One school board member cannot act alone. Effective school board members contribute their unique talents while collaborating and working as a team with other board members and the community. The best way to engage the families and enhance partnerships in the community to maximize student achievement is to actively engage in on-going dialog with families and community partners. Engagement needs to be done in a setting where real dialog occurs and is not just a listening session. I understand that legally there are constraints on what steps and discussions can occur with the school board, but my discussion with current and past members, they always reassure me of the transparency of the board, so if true I am hoping to take that transparency and use that to actively communicate with all interested parties. I cannot make these changes alone, community and staff involvement will help make the changes that are needed to not only make Lodi the best district in our conference, but the best and most sought after district in the state.

It is that time of the year to think about what makes our school district successful. It is and always has been the students who are apart of the district. What keeps and draws students to the district is the staff! It is not the administration or the board, however those two areas control so much. Money is not what keeps staff in Lodi, it is the great community feel and relationships. When we have board members who realize that, amazing things can occur. Keep that in mind as Lodi has three positions for re-election this coming April.

For dropping out of the race for the Board position and still receiving 24% of the votes, I'll take that as a victory. 😉

One week to the Lodi School Board Election. I think we can agree we know that Lodi residences only have two real choices and they both will rightfully win. However, remember even though there is two spots to fill, you have the choice to only vote for one candidate, if you choose. That will not change the results, however it will make a statement to that one candidate, as small as that may be, but it will make a statement. Keep that in mind when you go to the polls next week. I know I am only voting for one person.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! Just a few weeks to the election.

Dear friends and supporters,

I want to say thank you to all those that have and are supporting me in this journey and have sent well wishes. Your support makes my following decision a tough one. After many discussions and reflection I have decided to withdraw myself from the election for the Lodi School Board. I do not make this decision easily and do so with a heavy heart. I do know that the board will continue with maintaining the strong background of the school district with Sue Miller and Adam Steinberg as school board members.

I chose to run to make a positive impact towards the education of students and show support towards all staff, being that I am an educator myself. However, the support was not perceived mutually, which has lead to myself choosing to drop out of the race. Best of luck to Sue and Adam and all board members as they move forward.

Had the privilege to listen to Tony Evers talk tonight to a small group. The budget Walker presented today is very favorable towards schools and education, not perfect but favorable. We need to stay informed as a community, as these decisions (if you agree with them or not) have an impact on our educational system. I hope, as a future Lodi Board member, I can do everything possible to get this information to all stakeholders in the community. Together we can make a difference!

Six years after cutting nearly $800 million from public schools, Walker is calling for a $649 million increase.

Great night at OSC project night! The kids did an amazing job.
