Yesterday, Governor Jerry Brown's Office. signed Assembly Bill 949 which will classify "competitive" cheer as a sport in California. The CHSCDA would like send out a special thank you to Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez for spearheading this change and shining a spotlight on cheerleader safety!!

The California Interscholastic Federation will now work with the California Department of Education and experts in the high school cheerleading community to establish safety standards and policies. The California High School Cheer and Dance Association is excited to play a role in this process and looks forward to helping advance the sport of competitive cheerleading.

The Spirit Consultants, LLC have officially opened their 2015 summer cheer and dance camp registration! Check out all their camp details on their website: www.thespiritconsultants.com

The Spirit Consultants are the only spirit camp company in California that brings in over 20,000 square feet of cheer mats (carpet bonded foam mats); has on-site Certified Athletic Trainers and EMTs; a staff comprised entirely of adults (age 21+); hold their camps entirely indoors and in air-conditioned facilities; and have an extensive coaches education program. For these reasons and more, The California High School Cheer and Dance Association recommends that all spirit programs attend this camp!!
