Week 1 Preview: Stroud Tigers vs. Pawhuska Huskies
A New Season. A New Challenge. Same Tiger Standard.
After an impressive 11-2 season and a trip to the Class 2A-II Semifinals, the Stroud Tiger Nation enters 2026 with excitement and high expectations as the Tigers prepare for another run under Head Coach Josh Presley.
Every season brings change, and this year is no different. Stroud graduated a group of players who helped build the success of the last few seasons, but the foundation of the program remains strong. The next group of Tigers now has the opportunity to step forward and create their own legacy.
Leading the charge is senior standout Aiden Collins, who returns as one of the most explosive playmakers in recent Stroud football history. After putting together one of the best receiving seasons the program has seen, Collins gives the Tigers a proven weapon who can change the game every time he touches the football in the air or on the ground.
But Stroud’s success will not rely on one player. A talented group of returning players will be asked to embrace larger roles and bring leadership on both sides of the ball. Young players will have the opportunity to prove themselves, while experienced Tigers look to set the tone for another championship-caliber season.
At quarterback, sophomore Gideon Smalley will take command of the offense, with a host of underclassmen that will all be important pieces as Stroud looks to continue its winning tradition.
The first challenge comes against one of Oklahoma’s most respected programs —
The Pawhuska Huskies.
Pawhuska has built a reputation for playing tough, physical football and has been a consistent
contender in small-school football.
The Pawhuska Huskies football is off to a strong start this season, with a 1-0 record overall and a 40-7 win over Fairland on August 28. The team is led by Head Football Coach Mark Frye, who has 23 years of coaching experience in Pawhuska, including 18 years as Defensive Coordinator.
Some Huskies to mention are Jensen Snodgrass who is a weapon for the Huskies anywhere he lines up and taking command at QB is Jaden Spicer who took last year off from football, and had himself a good night against Fairland. Tripp Walker is a senior receiver that is constantly making spectacular plays along side Van Wildcat. This match up should be exciting to see folks against Zane Abbey and the Stroud Defense this Friday Night at 7pm.
The Huskies will provide an early test for a young Tiger team looking to prove that last year’s success was not the finish line, but just another step in building something bigger.

Every successful team has players who step into bigger moments. Week 1 is the first opportunity for this group of Tigers to show who they are.
Create Big Plays
With playmakers like Aiden Collins returning, Stroud has the ability to put pressure on opposing defenses and add in Ivan Morris finding ways to use that speed and athleticism will be important.
Set the Tone Physically
Pawhuska will bring a physical style of football. The Tigers must match that intensity from the opening whistle.
My Final Thoughts
As the 2026 Stroud Tigers may have a different look, about them the expectations remain the same.
A proud program. A hungry team. A community ready to pack the stands.
