As I look back on our very first season of Gridiron Gladiators Travel Flag Football, I can’t help but feel so incredibly thankful.
I’m thankful for every one of these athletes who took a chance on a brand-new program and chose to spend their summer working hard, getting better, and believing in what we were building. They showed up to every practice and tournament with open minds, ready to learn, ready to be coached, and willing to step outside of their comfort zones.
This season was about so much more than football. It was about becoming a team and building a program our way. For the love of the game. It was about building confidence, learning resilience, and creating friendships that will last long after the final whistle.
Every week we focused on a different mental toughness skill through hands-on activities. We learned how to move on after mistakes, get comfortable being uncomfortable, stay focused and coachable, be a great teammate, and learn from both success and adversity. Each week, a new captain who embodied that skill was chosen to lead the team by choosing and teaching the next lesson and activity. They took that responsibility seriously, and it was amazing to watch these young athletes grow into leaders.
To our players, coaches, and parents: thank you for believing in this dream and giving it everything you had. I couldn’t be more proud of what we accomplished together.
To coach Konrad: thank you for spending your summer showing these kiddos what a champion looks like. For leading by example and sharing your knowledge and abilities.
This is only the beginning.
We’re just getting started, and we cannot wait to build this program even bigger and better next year and continue growing the sport in our community. If your athlete is looking for a place to compete, grow, be challenged, and become part of something special, we’d love to have you join the Gladiator family.
⚔️ Year 2… let’s build something even greater together. Who’s ready? ❤️💛🖤
