The Catholic Central High School family mourns the passing of Joseph “JoJo” Pierro, Class of 1985.

JoJo was a proud Catholic Central alumnus who carried the values of his alma mater with him throughout his life. His dedication to young people, athletics, and his community touched the lives of many.

We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to JoJo’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

🙏 Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen.

Our Crusader Cross Country Teams travelled to Martins Ferry High School to compete in the Martins Ferry Invitational on Saturday morning.

Our runners had a very successful trip returning home with 8 medalists, 8 Top Ten finishers and one Champion as they traversed a challenging, muddy and wet Martins Ferry course.

Our high school boys were once again led by the Freshman duo of George Hanlin and Brendan Bolster with George claiming 6th place in 19:21.97 and Brendan racing to a 10th place finish in 19:50.23. They were the only freshmen runners in the Top Ten.

The Lady Crusaders again were led by Senior distance ace Claire Flannery who battled the entire race to pull away with less than a mile to go to earn her first cross country victory claiming the girls Championship in 21:53.61! Congratulations Claire!! 💙💛

Freshman Myla Manuel just missed a medal position with a 21st place finish in 30:01.53 while freshman Briley Ensminger and senior Urlene Rohall rounded out the girl's team with Briley finishing 32nd in 34:38.44 and Urlene just behind in 35:01.88 for 33rd place.

The Junior Crusader Boys team had a very successful meet with 7th Grader Andy Homol taking charge and racing to an impressive 6th place finish in a personal best time of 13:55.32 while 8th Grader's Luca DiGistina, who PR'd for the 3rd consecutive race, placed 8th in 14:36.50 and Patrick Vranish posted a season best time of 15:01.76 for 9th place. 8th Grader Eli Bartsch also ran a personal best with a 14th place finish in 17:15.29!

Our Lady Junior Crusaders 8th Grade duo of Layla Meehan and Gabby Reardon also raced to personal best times with Layla claiming the Runner-Up trophy in a PR time of 15:15.27 and Gabby posting a PR in 18:24.99 and 5th Place!

The Crusader Cross Country Teams will travel to the campus of Brooke High School on Wednesday to compete in the Bryan Fritz Memorial Invitational. First race goes off at 5:00pm.
