Our Crusader Boys Track & Field Team wrapped up District Week with a return trip to Nelsonville- York High School on Saturday morning for Finals Day and a chance to advance to the Regional next week at Chillicothe Southeastern HS. The Top 4 finishers in each event advance to the Regional Meet.
It was a very successful day as the Boys in Blue battled the entire meet with eventual Southeast District Champion Malvern and came up just 5 points shy of Runner-Up Waterford to finish an impressive 3rd Place in the team standings.
Our Field Events set the tone for the day as Senior James Mcnnis soared 6'4" to claim his second straight District High Jump Title, and second District Title of the week after winning the Long Jump on Tuesday, advanced to next week's Regional while Freshman Jack Hernon surprised the field, competing for the first time ever in high jump, claiming the 4th and final spot to advance to next weeks Regional with a leap of 5'6".
Sophomore Braylon Wilson advanced to the Shot Put Final and finished in 6th place to complete his season with a throw of 40'10.5" and Senior Alex Federoff placed 13th with a throw of 35'5.25".
Sophomore Haven Ralston continued his late season surge by sprinting to a PR time of 11.84 in the 100m Dash Finals for 6th Place. He would come back later in the day for the 200m Dash Final and sped to another PR time (23.92) to advance to next week's Regional with an impressive 4th place finish.
Senior Cash Dobson will continue his successful season, after finishing 3rd in the 3200m on Tuesday to advance to Regional, he raced to a 2nd Place finish in the 1600m in 4:49.48, qualifying him for Regional next week.
Freshman Jack Hernon contributed again to our Team's point total with an 8th Place finish in the 400m Dash Final finishing in 57.93.
Our duo of Senior's Joe Owen and Brendan Kuebler battled the field in the 800m Run Final with Joe posting an impressive PR performance and a District Title winning the event in 2:01.44 to advance to the Regional while Brendan narrowly missed advancing by less than one second, finishing in 5th with a time of 2:04.57.
To close out the day our 4x400m Relay team of Seniors James Mcnnis, Brendan Kuebler and Joe Owen teamed with Freshman Jack Hernon and battled the entire race as anchor Joe Owen slipped past Caldwell and Toronto in the final 50 meters to claim 2nd Place and a trip to the Regional next week.
Our Crusaders will be joined by our Girls Qualifiers from the Newcomerstown District, Mary Rohde (1600m) and the 4x800m Relay of Clara Andersen, Claire Flannery, Zoe Wise and Julia Kuebler along with Qualifiers from Tuesday's Boys District (4x800m Relay of Joe Owen, Cash Dobson, Patrick Morrow and Brendan Kuebler) (Alex Federoff (Discus)) to compete at the OHSAA Division V Region 16 Championships at Chillicothe Southeastern next Thursday and Saturday!
