North Georgia Cancelled!

(CHATSWORTH, GEORGIA) With several weather models now showing rain associated with Hurricane Isaias reaching the Chatsworth, Georgia area late this evening, North Georgia Speedway and Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series officials have mutually decided this morning to postpone tonight’s Tarheel Race. A possible makeup date for the $6,000 to win Super Late Model special is being explored by officials.

“We hate to make this announcement, as we’ve tried to bring Super Late Models to North Georgia Speedway all year long and it keeps raining on us,” quoted Ray Cook this morning. “Last night, the different weather models were pretty much in agreement that the rain wouldn’t reach us until the overnight hours - well after the race would have been concluded. Now, several models are showing the rain coming in at like 8 or 9 tonight and obviously we can’t get the entire program in if that happens. Plus, for the safety of all the race teams and fans that have to drive back home through the storm, we think this is the right decision to make in postponing the event.”

Unless the Tarheel Race gets rescheduled prior to Sunday, October 25, the next race on the SAS schedule will be the $30,000 to win Blue Gray 100 that day at the renowned Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina. More information will be made available online at www.sasdirt.com.

(CHATSWORTH, GEORGIA) For the 22nd time in the storied history of the event, the FK Rod Ends Tarheel Race will be held this Friday night, October 9, but it will take place for the very first time at North Georgia Speedway! The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Showtime Properties will once again sanction the single-day shootout, which will boast a $6,000 winner’s check and will pay each feature starter at least $600 for taking the green flag. Cory Hedgecock, of Loudon, Tennessee, is the defending Tarheel Race winner, as he took home the checkered flag in 2025 when the event was held at I-75 Raceway.

On Friday at North Georgia Speedway, the pit gate will open at 3:00pm, while the grandstands will start to allow fans into the facility at 4:00pm. The drivers meeting is set for 6:30pm and hot laps will light up the racetrack starting at 7:00pm. Grandstand admission will be $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for kids ages 5-11. Pit admission will be $45.00 for adults and $25.00 for kids ages 5-11. Children ages 4 and under will be admitted onto the grounds for FREE!

Joining the SAS Super Late Models in action on Friday at the Chatsworth, Georgia venue will be the 604 Late Model ($1,000 to win), 602 Late Model ($800 to win), Sharp Mini Late Model ($650 to win), Open Wheel Modified ($450 to win), Front Wheel Drive ($400 to win), Pony ($300 to win), and Stock FWD ($150 to win) divisions. After eighteen Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series shows so far in 2026, there have been fourteen different winners - Brandon Overton (3 victories), Tucker Anderson (3 victories), Chris Madden, Trae Kirk, Bo Slay, Sam Seawright, Shane Clanton, Michael Page, Jadon Frame, Zack Mitchell, Garrett Smith, Kaede Loudy, Dale McDowell, and Cory Hedgecock. Anderson currently sits atop of the SAS point standings by 138 markers over Kendall Franklin. Dillon Daves, Billy Franklin, and Will Hicks round out the top five in the latest version of the tour standings.

Super Late Model body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series - among others. Next series is scheduled for October 9th at North Georgia Speedway! This is a Friday night event, no points, and payout is based on car count. There is no Saturday event at Dixie Speedway.

Also this weekend October 3rd at Winder Barrow Speedway there is a $1500 to win. This was setup not with series but we do ask everyone that can to attend and show out.

Ok guys it’s time to start organizing for next season. Many of us have spoken about this idea but it’s time we start.

In the comments please list your region and who you nominate for your representative to be a part of the board to help organize us racing together and a good number of races.

Deadline to nominate will be August 30th. After nominations we will put up a poll for each region to vote. Please only vote within your region and not others. We will take the top 2 nominations for each region to go to vote. If only 1 person is nominated for that region they will be the representative unless they refuse it.

FOR CLARIFICATION: Only drivers/owners votes will be counted, not public input.

Series Finale at Cherokee Speedway was a huge success. 18 cars and day full of fun.

Congrats to our Points Champion Christian Pitts and P2 Zeke Whitman! 3 points at the end separated these 2 drivers.
