After the performance by internationally recognized pianist Vladimir Petrov, students from our Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute engaged in a thoughtful discussion about effective piano practice strategies—an important part of developing musicianship and achieving long-term success at the instrument. We are proud to provide experiences that extend beyond weekly lessons, helping students learn, connect, and grow through both performance and mentorship.

To celebrate the end of the school year, we welcomed our students in our 2nd Grade Swim Program back for a pool party at our Bernikow JCC outdoor pool!

Over the school year, we hosted 6 schools from across Staten Island, serving hundreds of students to teach them life-saving water safety skills! Thank you to the Heckscher Foundation for Children for funding this program that has brought so much joy to our students and JCC staff!

At our recent Adult Education Program graduation, we welcomed Joyce Brown and Catherine Justesen to share their stories with our graduates!

I am very proud of myself and my journey with my teachers was incredible. Now, I'm excited to be going to college this fall, so if I can do it, I believe anyone can do it."

In May, we were proud to host a series of events to celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month and AAPI Heritage Month! We hosted a kimchi-making class, a trip to Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant, and a tea party that brought both cultures together.

At the JCC of Staten Island, we are committed to providing meaningful cultural experiences that emphasize how we truly are a kehillah that stands together. Thank you to UJA-Federation of New York for supporting these events through its Jewish American Heritage Month & AAPI Heritage Month Community Engagement Events initiative!
