You will not get better every day. ⬇️

Nobody talks about that.

Some days you leave the cage feeling worse than when you walked in.

That doesn’t mean you’re going backwards.

It means you’re in it.

Stop evaluating yourself day to day.

Zoom out. Measure yourself in months and years.

That’s the only timeline that actually matters.

The players who make the biggest jumps aren’t the most talented.

They’re the ones who stayed consistent when it stopped feeling like progress.

Save this for the next time you need it.

The most powerful skill in hitting⬇️

Adjustments.

This sounds brutal, but everyone sucks at hitting.

The best players ever hit .300-.400 depending on level.

Objectively, that’s not good. That’s still so many times of not achieving your desired outcome.

Sucking is guaranteed… but the goal is to figure out how to not suck faster than everyone else. That’s making adjustments.

Here’s a very simple way to become an elite adjuster:

You swing and miss

Ask - “what was the miss?” Let’s say early

Next ask “why did I miss?” The key here is to keep asking why until you find the root cause. Lunged? Why? Started load to early? Why?

Then- exaggerate the opposite of your miss. Started too early? Simple, start later. Under the ball? Feel hitting a grounder.

As you go through this process over and over it becomes second nature and automatic.

Save this and reflect as you train.

Play for your 8 year old self.

Your love for the game started when you were just a kid who loved swinging a bat around in the yard and playing a game with your friends.

Now your main focuses are stats, wins, coaches, recruiting, etc etc

Remember, the whole point of this is to ENJOY YOUR TIME AS A BASEBALL PLAYER

You were once just a kid who dreamed of being where you are now.

Play with that love for the game you had when you were a kid.

You probably struggle with 1 of these 3 swing flaws ⬇️

1. Quad Load
2. Pulling Off
3. Steep Barrel Path

The fix is always the same principle — exaggerate the opposite of your miss.

Quad heavy? Feel a hip load.
Pulling off? Exaggerate eyes on the ball and stay through.
Steep barrel? Feel the hips lead the way and barrel work up through the zone.

It’s not just about the drills. It’s understanding the bigger principle.

1 — Identify your miss
2 — Find drills and feels that exaggerate the opposite
3 — Experiment until you find what works for YOU

These are general observations. Hitting is much more nuanced and these may not apply to your specific swing.

If you feel like you struggle with any of these, give the drills a try.

The path to becoming elite is simple.

Play the long game. Focus on development. Train your mind to look at the game differently to unlock your potential.

You need to do things that other people don’t. That’s where you get the edge.

If you do the same drills, play on the same team, have the same coaches, trying to copy everyone else… you will be like everyone else.

If you want to separate yourself from the pack, you must train different, act different, become different.

KNOW YOUR FEELS ⬇️

As a hitter it is extremely important to know your feels. Here’s why.

There are virtually an infinite amount of possible feels that you can have. Some need to feel “swing down” some feel “swing up” some feel “stay back” others feel “get forward”. That’s just the nature of hitting and human movement.

Regardless of what YOUR feel actually is… you have to know what it is and why it works for you. Being clear on your feels makes it much easier to make adjustments and “feel good” in the box.

I often encourage hitters to keep a notebook. Take 15 seconds to write down what you felt when you had a great swing and barreled up a ball. Take note of how you felt when you didn’t feel great. What did you do to feel good again? This is all information elite hitters know.

Find a feel, know it, and stick with it until it’s time to adjust. This is a never ending cycle and why MLB all stars still make adjustments.

You are what you do on a daily basis ⬇️

You want to be a great hitter, but you get no sleep, eat like a 10 year old, and rely on energy drinks to focus.

What you do off the field has a huge impact on your performance.

When you get to higher levels… EVERYONE IS GOOD.

But what separates you is the quality of your habits off the field.

It’s not surprising that you can’t control your emotions when you’re stressed about school, running on 3 hours of sleep, and spend 3 hours/day on reels.

Build the HUMAN, and the player improves.

More than just a game.
