Another tournament weekend is in the books for the Post 290 Bombers 12U, and while the scores may tell part of the story, they certainly don't tell all of it.
The Bombers opened Sunday with a strong 7-3 victory over Virginia Stingrays Teal. From the very first inning, the offense came alive as Avery B, Kaylee W, and Mia G each drove in runs to give the Bombers an early advantage. The team continued to apply pressure throughout the game, adding insurance runs in the third inning and showcasing the aggressive, team-first style of softball that has become a trademark of this group.
The Bombers collected nine hits in the win, with Gracie L and Kaylee W leading the way with multiple-hit performances. Contributions came from throughout the lineup as Avery B, Gracie L, Everly L, Emma H, Mia G, and Kaylee W all recorded RBIs. Hannah D battled in the circle for five innings to earn the win, while the defense backed her up with a flawless performance. The Bombers did not commit a single error, and every player contributed to a complete team victory.
The final game of the tournament didn't go the Bombers' way against a very strong Southern Maryland Velocity squad, but even in defeat there were bright spots. Avery B, Everly L, and Hannah D each recorded hits, the team turned a double play on defense, and the girls continued to compete until the final out against one of the toughest opponents they faced all weekend.
Looking back at the entire tournament, there is a lot to be proud of.
The Bombers finished the weekend with hard-fought wins, battled through adversity, and never stopped competing. They showed resilience after difficult losses, responded with energy and determination, and consistently supported one another throughout the weekend. Whether it was Hannah D's strong performance in the circle against Loudoun Inferno, the offensive explosion in Sunday's win over Stingrays, the aggressive baserunning that produced multiple stolen bases throughout the tournament, or the defensive highlights that included a double play and several error-free innings, every player found ways to contribute.
One of the most impressive aspects of this team was their ability to keep fighting regardless of the situation. They out-hit opponents, battled back after tough innings, manufactured runs through smart baserunning, and continued to grow together as a team. The scoreboards may vary from game to game, but the effort, heart, and determination these girls bring never changes.
This weekend was filled with big hits, strong pitching performances, aggressive baserunning, defensive gems, and countless moments of teamwork. Most importantly, it was another opportunity for these young athletes to grow, learn, and represent the Bombers organization with pride.
