An update on Sensei Jenkins:

A biopsy revealed he has a cancerous Germ Cell tumor, but which is highly treatable with 80 - 90% making a full recovery. He is being moved to the cancer ward at Barnes and will start chemotherapy soon to cure the cancer. No surgery will be necessary for treatment, and he will be staying at Barnes for a few days for observation after chemotherapy starts.

The tumor was pushing on the pancreas, causing pancreatitis - which was the cause of the severe abdominal pain. This is also being treated.

Mr. Jenkins is in good spirits! Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts!

To all Shudo Kan members: please pray for Sensei Jenkins; he was taken to Barnes Hospital ER yesterday evening while in extreme abdominal pain; he has had several tests and is awaiting the results but is still waiting on getting in his own room.

We will keep everyone informed.

SAVE THE DATE: October 29 we will have our dojo Halloween Party! Your warriors can come in costume and play some fun karate-oriented games and enjoy the spooky spirit of the season! Each warrior will get an individual treat bag at the end of the night, so make sure you can be there!

Hey Karate Families! This is a public service announcement:

Beginning October 5, construction work is beginning on 97 West, beginning at the intersection of Jefferson and Veterans Parkway. The work is expected to go from there to the 97-125 junction, and will definitely last several month.

Be mindful of this when coming to class in case you need to take alternate routes to the dojo.

Hey Karate Families - one of your warriors left their white belt at the dojo last evening. Looks like someone who we would be taking a good look at for promotion to yellow belt as they've met the skill and one-rule requirements, so they are probably missing this.

If this belt looks familiar to you, you can grab it when you come to class on Thursday. It will be on the light brown table next to the refrigerator.
