Bracket Champions! These boys had a long day at the park yesterday; they played the first game of the day and they played the last game of the day, coming home with the bracket championship after a 3-0 day!
In game one, the Iron Pigs took care of business, defeating the Dugout Dingers Navy 8-0 behind the strong pitching of Hudson Lawson and Bray Finch, who racked up a combined 7 Ks in 3 innings pitched. Kade Wall was the standout hitter, going 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored!
In game two, it was more of the same! The Pigs jumped out to an 8-0 lead on YBC Strickland behind the strong pitching of Jace Munoz before ultimately putting them away 19-5! Jace, who recently returned to the mound, struck out 6 batters over 3 innings pitched on his way to the win. The bats came alive in this one, led by Cam Pruitt, Kade Wall, and Bray Finch, who each collected three hits. Bray led the charge with 5 RBIs!
Game three started rough; the Pigs found themselves down 8-1 to a VERY tough Upper Deck 2035 team going into the bottom of the third before EXPLODING for 10 runs on 5 hits on their way to an 11-8 victory! Kaiser Masterson came up clutch in a relief pitching role, helping get the Pigs out of a jam in the top of the third before slamming the door, striking out two batters in the top of the fourth, securing the victory!
The Killer “B’s,” Bray Finch and Blayze Johnson, led the way with the bats, combining for 4 hits, 2 doubles, and 6 RBIs in the comeback win!
It was a great team performance and a “Never Say Die” mentality by the Iron Pigs yesterday, giving them a lot of momentum going into the State Tournament in Bentonville in two weeks!
Way to go, Pigs!!!
