fun watching a baby bass, shorter than your index finger, devour minnows. He already knows which r too big & just right for dinner.

Now I did get a strike from that -biggin’ of the hole- Bass, but she spit the hook after a couple shakes. Truth is I was babying her cause I was more entertained by watching her come out from the shadows, tilt & strike, instead of setting the hook stronger.
But we did get a couple little bass, a Rio Cichlid & a green sunfish.
-don’t tell nobody I did this, but another fisherman came by & I yielded the spot & told him where she was & he caught a couple nice ones just smaller than her, but not her.
Always funner on a river somewherez.

Like Dalton from Roadhouse, I thought it was bigger and it was a Bass in the slow current next to a downed tree in the water. Oh well. Nice Green Sunfish.
Also, check out the power of our last 100-year floods, how they completely snapped giant Cypress trees in half. Water looks great, but I’m afraid the July ‘25 flood took almost all fish away somehow, somewhere. Might take a few or more spawn cycles to replenish the bass numbers. Ive fished 4 different locations since the flood, over a span of 40 miles of river, and the usual hungry bass bite has been almost Zero.
