Another fun training weekend come and gone. Beautiful weather and property. Thanks Three Maples Training and the Ibbotson’s for use of the property. We had about 15 dogs each day of all levels and hopefully all walked away with something! Next week is Black Creek’s Hunt Test and the week after is Westchester’s open/amateur. Good luck to all entered!!

Everyone save the weekend of August 15-16. There will be training at Three Maples. Start time 9 am. Cost $10/dog/day. Come and train your dogs before the Black Creek hunt test the following weekend and the Westchester Retriever Open/Amateur the last weekend of August.

Please respond as soon as possible to either Jill Conroy or Anne Ibbotson so that we know how many groups we will need. Bring birds.

Leo 'Pete' Plourde 3/7/1928 - 7/24/2026
The retriever community has suffered a great loss. It is with a heavy heart that we announce Pete's passing to the members of Westchester Retriever club.

Pete passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a short illness on Friday.

His involvement in the retriever sports spanned over 40 years as a Hunt Test and Field Trial competitor and judge. During this time, he trained his dogs to the highest level and was extremely successful. Those who competed against him were witness to his competitive nature and good sportsmanship. He and his dogs were a force to be reckoned with!

Perhaps his greatest service to the sport was his generous mentoring of many, many people just getting started in our retriever games. He was willing to give advice to newcomers and nurture their improvement, so long as they were sincere in their willingness to truly become students of the game. His background was teaching, and coaching sports, so it came naturally to him. Stern at times, he also had a soft side when the situation was best handled that way.

We are all a little richer for having known and loved him. He will live on in our memories, as he should.

Godspeed, Pete! You are now reunited with your loving wife, Peg, and all of your dogs, who you loved so much!
