Our iaido class did some paper cutting today. Even though we train with unsharpened swords, proper technique and form can still result in a true cut on paper. This exercise tells you a lot about technique, angle, and form! Special thanks to member Frank for donating paper for our use!

Last weekend Lilac City teachers attended the AUSKF Summer Camp in Las Vegas. Not only did they get to meet and train with the legendary Furukawa Sensei and Yano Sensei but with hundreds of other kendoka from around the country. Thank you to all of our friends, old and new, for the pictures, the training, and the memories. Until next year!

Last week was a busy one for our members! Marek Nelson Sensei had the opportunity to participate in the AUSKF Iaido Seminar and Taikai. A whole weekend of Iaido action with special guests from Japan! And the week after we hosted Nick Shiosaki Sensei from Pocatello Kendo Club. Thank you to everyone that came out and welcomed him with good kendo and high spirits!

Last weekend Nelson Sensei and Ruiz Sensei participated in the US Kendo Nationals in Las Vegas. Three days of the best kendo in the country. PNKF had a strong showing, placing in many divisions. Thank you to all of the competitors for all of your effort leading up to the tournament and your performance on the floor. Thank you to the coaches for all of your help, support, and encouragement throughout the last year. And thank you to the managers and volunteers, without whom none of this would have been possible. Let's train hard and come back even stronger next time!

Lilac City members Marek Nelson and Chris Ruiz are heading to the US Kendo Nationals in Las Vegas this weekend to represent the Pacific Northwest Kendo Federation. Nelson Sensei will be competing in the senior men's division, and Ruiz Sensei will be coaching the mudansha team. Good luck, fight hard, and represent well!
