TIP OF THE DAY:

Have a hole, or 10, in your waders? Don't throw them out!.

Black RTV silicone is available for cheap at any Walmart or auto parts store. It sets quick and makes a flexible, permanent seal over those pesky holes. Been using it for years.

Good luck and be safe for tomorrow's Trout opener!

Don't always assume that you can't think outside the box when it comes to what lure you throw for trout.
Pictured is a 3" Rappala rattle shad with a few touches to the paint scheme to give it a more local color pattern. Excellent for getting deep when you need to.

Here at Driftless Trout Adventures we love our cloudy days. Both trout and aquatic insects tend to be more active in low light, and cloudy conditions spread these light conditions over a longer part of the day. This behavior reflects one of the most basic generalizations about weather and that is that clouds are an angler's best friend!

Keep yourself in the habit of wearing darker or camouflage, especially important on days with alot of sun and clear waters. Its useful to keep the same sweatshirt or jacket in the trunk in case you forget the rule of color.

Trout have amazing environmental awareness. Be one with the bank.

Don't be afraid to throw bigger spinners ( #4 - #8's) in deeper and swifter water. Alot of times these conditions hold fish that can sustain the current that smaller ones cant.
