Brendan finished the new gathering pallet for the Vienna regulator. Here's the work at the bench, and the video shows the test run.

Green Monster cleaning day. It started as a dark, corroded movement, and by the end the plates were back to bright brass. The clock police may come after me for this one, but I think it looks a lot better.

All three of us were in the shop today. I kept going on the Green Monster, Brendan worked on a mantel clock, and Eric studied his first antique cuckoo clock movement. A good day at the benches.

On the bench today: the back c**k from the Green Monster. It needed a lot of work. As you can see in the first photo, it wasn't flat, so I flattened it by sanding it on a flat surface in a figure-eight motion. Then I set its position for correct depthing with the train installed, marked it, and pinned it, so the back c**k always goes back in exactly the right spot.

Green Monster update: all the pivots are polished and the worn pivot holes are bushed. Now it's on to the fly. At some point the original fly was swapped out, but the replacement's pinion doesn't line up with the warning wheel. So I'm restoring the original fly to bring it back the way it was made.

Brendan is making real progress on his gathering pallet. He's shaping the new part by hand with files from flat steel stock, fitting and checking it as he goes. It takes patience to get a tiny piece like this just right, and he's getting there.
