i didn’t think i could ever top the one picture to summarize the greg and benjamin show better than 2019 but thank you to Expedition Images for raising the bar

the soundbite that best describe what Greg Dolbec and Greg Dolbec are like is they’re greg’s “labor of love.” everyone gets to see me just waltzing on race day and drive this production greg pours his soul into making happen all year long. very few see or appreciate how the dolbec family pull out all the moves to make sure everyone has a great time at applegate farm rd of west newfields maine

my favorites this year are:
- claire leading a dozen kiddos as volunteers and cheersquad for the whole weekend
- rory driving the literal tractor and taking any spare moment to make the cyclocross course even more perfect
- katie edgar and pati stepping up # for the tasks that come up. this year new tasks were running race companion and bartender
- greg arranging three (!!!) national champions of cyclocross to start the same race together and greg is somehow the fastest racer on lap one

after ten years, ten sets of tears and cheers all in high gear, nine years of DFCX , life is as fun as it gets. i’m forever grateful greg asks me to come along for the journey 🖤

“Life isn’t a support for art. It’s the other way around” - Stephen King

one more long post before we go back to being an hobbyist athlete and event director that’s extra committed to the bit and wants to meme as a treat

the biggest week of bike racing in new hampshire is done. and so’s the first week of the new day job (folks, we really like this one) fifty one more weeks until the next biggest week. to top that off that was job hunting for the past sixty seven (!!!) weeks. that still was always the worst part. i have purpose, but sometimes purpose doesn’t pay the bills. i can’t thank jazmine enough for trusting me to pull through and make it work

cyclocross is in a few weeks we’re staring down at a beautiful autumn and all i want to do is lie down and cry with relief and gratitude

i know bike racing is a treat, especially amidst *waves hands about at everything * the bike has always been a metaphysical anchor for me through just about everything. but for the past year plus it was real people being really awesome that was the rock i needed. i couldn’t have done it without it everyone one of you. especially jazmine and my family

Thank you. Thank you, thank you

3️⃣ / 3️⃣ of the biggest week of bike racing in new hampshire: Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb 🏔️👑🌶️

and no, despite the event being over fifty years and Tin Mountain Conservation Ctr. working this event with the Mt. Washington Auto Road since 1991, we still can’t agree how you pronouce M-W-A-R-B-H . mwuhaarhebh???

as evident by the v long e-mails, i don’t have a concise way to convey how i feel about MWARBH and what it means to me. all i can succinctly say for now is Greg Dolbec got into this because we know how much racing mt washington and fundraising for tin mountain means to people. back when Greg and i first agreed to do this (a year ago, while working at his annual event at the family farm Greg Dolbec and Greg Dolbec ) , it was our wildest dreams that we could see a record and if Greg could race with his son roareedolbec . the first two videos are a year in the making 🥹 that and record fundraising for tin mountain has made year one absolutely rad

there’s a lot still for Greg and i to figure out. in this space, we gotta thank everyone at tin mountain and the auto road for making this happen. extra special thank you to lisa mccoy and erin holmes for what they’ve done for MWARBH. and especially to heather and lori 🖤this event means so much to them

we’ll be back! also probably the blankets! 😅😅😅

2️⃣ / 3️⃣ of the biggest week of bike racing in new hampshire : MKHC- Mount Kearsarge Hill Climb 🚙🌅🍪

the very first neighbor jazmine and i met moving to warner was Arlon Chaffee , and somewhere in our very first conversation as neighbors was , “you do bikes, i do bikes, we should put on a bike race!” 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽 it’s that simple, even when i make it more complicated and arlon very patiently explains how we can make our lives easier and events more awesome as we manage a weekend of bikes in our lil town in our lil state 😎

i love how the mountain in our literal backyard is the best local hillclimb race vibes, but what i really love and i’m going to miss is Arlon as partners in crime. Arlon’s not riding off into the sunset for a long time, but he wants to siesta and i think it’s my turn to ride whip and pass on his wisdom of the ancients 🫡 putting on a bike race is that simple! please sign here if you want to work at The Royal Loyal Center for Racers That Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too. proud to say that if you liked how i’ve managed races the past couple of years, it’s in very due part to Arlon being the best Arlon possible during our coffee meetings ☕️

1️⃣ / 3️⃣ of the biggest week of bike racing in new hampshire : 🔪🔪🔪

*screams in breathless geek facts* 🗣️ DID YOU KNOW MY PARENTS FIRST MOVED TO NH RIGHT NEAR TURN TWO OF CONCORD CRIT THE OLDEST BIKE RACE IN NEW ENGLAND 🗣️ i wasn’t around then but i love to think that mystic association is what’s given me my bike oriented brain. that or some level of either racing or event ops for this race for ten years. forever sad that i never raced concord while i was living between turns five and six (although i got to text my roommate from that time while she was watching the 2026 race )

we can’t thank 545 Velo enough for keeping the most fun new england town style crit going. someone send Noah Peduzzi and Brandon Marshall some coffee, they’re gonna need it to keep directing for the best shreddy crit 🫶🏽🏄🏽‍♂️⛷️🤙🏽 i have absolutely nothing noteworthy to say about my race except i got a lemonade and doughnut handup during my hot hot race and got to watch my friends have fun 🥵🥤🍩😋

extra special thanks to grant of Grant Halsey | Content Factory Racing for capturing my very mediocre speeding 📸🙏🏽

is coming up 🔪🔪🔪 i’m in between bike jobs and real jobs but still making time to attend one of the oldest and most prestigious races in new england. this race is extra special to me for so many reasons: from being involved as both a racer and event staff to my parents moving down the block when they first came to new hampshire to this being my tenth year out of twenty racing it

never forget that DARREN PIOTROW BEAT CLEVER MARTINEZ HERE still the most amazing race finish i’ve seen, darren and wells gaping the nations top crit racer and taking it to the line 😮‍💨😤

big thanks to 545 Velo for taking on this big one! the only real challenge now is for my ONE ROAD RACE OF 2026 (when tf did i become the racer that does one pavement race a year???) and four years since my last concord crit what pretty jersey do i wear for Grant Halsey | Content Factory Racing 😎

nothing and everything is different and same because a pancake and a bike race and time itself is a flat circle. we play with the seasonings a bit but no need to change the original recipe

the last and first and future june july update is we’re still having fun 😎 a long winter and spring will turn into a summer and fall of reaping, which that in of itself is sowing to make the next year better than ever

kitchen is still open! we got a hell of a lot of good weather plus MKHC- Mount Kearsarge Hill Climb Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb and Greg Dolbec + Greg Dolbec left on the order

i finished nineteen years racing, twelve of those were cyclocross. i don’t think this was the worst cx season ever, but it definitely felt like the most disappointing in a long time. a lot of recent posts here are about sending e-mails and managing races, and that’s probably a good indicator on how i’ve approached my training 🙃

i don’t like this feeling. it’s important to be positive and find the joy in things that isn’t just racing, but if it matters then it’s OK to treat it like it matters. ambivalence is a good shield from self criticism. it’s a poor motivator for growth. i got some good plans brewing to make next year better, and i’m excited about being more intentional and less ambivalent. it’s been a minute since i’ve felt this excited about being hungry ⚔️🐺

you get one bottle post race to celebrate or despair about a race. then it’s back to the process. they’ll be more fun training posts here as we get to it!

wrapped up the announcing season at . twenty six events this year that i got to announce at, race direct, or support in some significant way that i woke up monday afterwards sore and beat

after getting to announce the 20th edition of Shreddpark CX, i went to go see an improv musical with a friend. somehow that perfectly encapsulates what this year has been like, with all of it’s highlights and curve balls. shinier posts with many words later, but for now:

Thank you. Thank you, thank you 🖤
