Thank you for all the support at the parade last weekend! It was a blast—and an honor—to spend Mother’s Day weekend with this community.

This tradition goes beyond campaigns, and is a reminder of how we show up for each other, and to show gratitude for all the moms in our community. Thank you for sharing your weekend with us, because nothing would be possible without you all.

Special thank you to the Stegall family for the use of your beautiful historic truck, and all of the help with the float! Thank you to every single person that joined us on the float. And lastly thank you to everyone for smiling, waving and showing up!

“Four years ago I rose to the call from the constituents for leadership that listens. Success as the Superintendent is defined by serving the people, and rising to the occasion to lead education. I plan to continue shaping the success of our school system by understanding the unique needs of our community. With Tuolumne recognized as one of the top five declining populations in the country, it is essential that we invest in local opportunities for our youth, so that they may find success in their hometown. Success is understanding the demand in our local economy for skilled workers, and continuing to tie CTE opportunities into our schools, so that students may find their own success upon graduation. Students are the top priority, and I will maintain this perspective while meeting my statutory obligations. County elections officials began mailing ballots! Make sure to look for your ballot in the mail over the next 10 days and make a plan to vote. Once you receive your ballot, you can complete it, sign it, date it and return it!

I have been getting some questions following League of Woman Voters forum that I would like to clarify.
We do not have $24 million sitting in the general fund to write checks with, our annual budget is about $24 million in total.
This $2 million spent to drive students to the valley was purely decided and voted on by SELPA, not the County Office. The County Office has already opened 3 programs (classes) in 3 years to help districts with increasing needs such as these. This is not something SELPA has requested I look into, but I can if they would like me to.
Many years ago, Tuolumne County Superintendents and their boards started saving money in a (facilities fund) so they would not have to operate on credit. These long-term funds are the fiscally responsible way to save for the future infrastructure that supports the primary needs of TCSOS. I believe in fiscally sound policies like these, and we have about 7 Million in this fund, which is about 1/3 of what a proper facility would cost.
I do not have active plans, or even aspirations to build apartments for teachers. The question was, “what was something innovative we saw in another county”. Other counties have done this but for Tuolumne County, it is more of an “out-of-the-box” thought process on how you could entice teachers from out of the area rather than decimate our individual districts by poaching their staff. There are not enough special education teachers in the county to fill the need we have.
At the end of the day, special education is not funded correctly by the state, it is breaking the backs of the schools. There is not enough money, there are not enough teachers, there are not enough aids.

I am really proud of the Teacher Residency Program. Being able to connect locals with teaching careers has been a longtime goal of mine. I am excited to continue exploring more programs like this in my second term.

Congratulations to all of the new graduates (and soon to be graduates)! 🎓

We believe Tuolumne County voters deserve transparency.

Our campaign did not receive the invitation to the forum held at Columbia Elementary this past week because it was likely sent to an incorrect email address. Despite this, it was publicly stated that we failed to attend.

We are committed to open dialogue and are fully prepared and eager to participate in a properly coordinated forum. We respectfully ask that future communications and public statements reflect the facts.
